Dolphins releasing Pat Devlin

It still doesn't make complete sense to me. Is Quinn so good that he wants to screw up his Fox gig if he doesn't make the 53? He should have a clue that if he is cut the "speed dial" thing may not happen because if he doesn't learn quick enough (we only have a few weeks here till the cuts) then he may not have learned well enough or be capable enough that once we are in the season whoever we put on the practice squad may be a better option at that point.

Could be possible Fins already gave him the details of his presence here at Dolphins camp. Learn the playbook, learn the system, get a couple of camp pay checks and if anything happens we will give you a call back.

Don't see how this changes his radio gig. If he gets a call up from the Dolphins he will make (I assume) double, triple what that radio gig would of paid.

If Quinn does get cut and he is working with Fox - they will have a schedule with the teams set up. All employers including Fox like to have reliability and it isn't trivial to put together working broadcast teams. Quinn is a rookie at this and he isn't so good yet and isn't a big enough name (except for Notre Dame fans) that Fox will be happy about his ditching his commitment to a broadcast season to be a #2 during the season. The contract may allow it but I can't help but believe it would hurt his chances of continuing in the future with Fox. You are comparing what he makes this season compared to a longer term career which Brady Quinn should REALLY be thinking about.

"The Dolphins moving Devlin down on their depth charts is actually a good sign for him; since their history is to do nothing but make horrible personnel decisions, the worse they think he is, the better he must actually be."

5. I still have no idea why Zak Taylor is here. He climbed the corporate ladder too fast. We just read about how Lazor is changing Tannehill's footwork and Tanne thinks he will get better accuracy accordingly. Devlin didn't get there. Where was Taylor in all of this? What the heck is Taylor doing besides being a nepotism beneficiary?
For what it's worth, the feedback on Zack Taylor is that he's pretty good and has a very good working relationship with Tannehill. Zack just had the good fortune/misfortune to be Mike Sherman's son in law. Lazor knows what a good QB Coach should be doing in the job because he did it last year in Philadelphia. I would expect that he pushes young Zack pretty hard. However, I wouldn't be surprised if Zack actually does have some talent, despite what has been suggested on here. There is no place for nepotism, but the easy and obvious thing would have been to say goodbye to Zack along with Mike Sherman and Jim Turner. The fact that they didn't suggests that Philbin and Tannehill really like Taylor.
If Tannehill continues to make good progress, maybe the QB Coach is doing his job.

Quinn will not be on the final 53 roster....if he is lucky they will sign him after the 1st game so his salary isn't guaranteed.....if he is not lucky then they are using him for arm only, .....I hope we do not keep 3 QB, this is a good time for Quinn to see the offense get some reps in for the next 3 weeks and we call him to back up MM if RT goes down for a couple of weeks or we lose him for the season....I think this is just a contingency plan to have two QB (Quinn and Devlin) we can call if RT goes down....

I hope Devlin gets a shot with the Texans, I think he can be a pretty good QB....

As long as the Pats don't sign him before we play them. ..I don't care. Another thought, Baltimore must have a thing for four Delaware QBs since Flacco is there.

Dolphins | Pat Devlin could stick around

Tue, 12 Aug 2014 05:30:53 -0700

Updating previous reports, Miami Dolphins QB Pat Devlin (hamstring) could be injured/waived and placed on Injured Reserve to stick around and break down film.

Omar Kelly @OmarKelly

If Pat Devlin is not claimed the Dolphins could either give him an injury settlement, OR place him on IR & keep him around to breakdown film

Bad qb ... has wasted a roster spot for years. All in all - about time.

Many wasted roster spots over the last decade man. Let's get rid of Dana Thomas and Michael Egnew and we might finally be heading in the right direction...

I guess we'll see if and when someone else picks him up, I wish him all the best. I'm sure he wants to play. I really still don't understand how you can hold an opinion that he is that good when he just hasn't shown it.
