According to Andrew Abramson of the Palm Beach Post, the Dolphins are going with free agent pickup Shelley Smith as their starting center.

But Smith said he’s never played center at any level.
He’s started eight games in the NFL, all at guard.
At a certain level, it’s not that big of a change for a competent lineman. But springing it on him just before training camp almost makes it appear it wasn’t a fully developed plan.

Who knows maybe smith will play good at center. I think he is backup at best anywhere but we shall see

They should be getting more experience. Seems like the Dolphins are always having multiple people at unfamiliar positions.

So does this mean Billy Turner will be starting at OG? I think Sam Brenner filled in decently last year at C

Well from what I keep reading here, we can insert Caleb Sturgis at center if need be because hiking the ball is the easiest job on the team.

We have 0 depth on OL. God forbid one of the tackles gets injured...

I will suit up and play Center for the Phins for a couple million. I will be ok with another man touching my ass for that kind of money. There is no shame in my game.

Center will be our Achilles heal until we get a legit player in that spot. Good defenses will blow up the interior. Tannehill better practice rolling out cause scoring points will depend upon it.

Well, we do seem to love centers who have trouble snapping the ball.

I think the Center is the most important position on the line. I just don't want a stupid thug who can't stay out of trouble to lead the offensive line. I'm fine with sticking with him for another year or so if it means finding a decent replacement. I'm just afraid of giving him big money and then it blowing up in our faces when he inevitably gets into a lot of trouble.

Of course on Finheaven if you haven't been caught or ruled guilty in a court of law you're an innocent little angel that wouldn't hurt a fly, unless you're a Jet or a Patriot of course, then you'd be guilty until you're a Dolphin.

We haven't had a stupid thug on our team in awhile, maybe Brandon Marshall, Cecil Collins? Or are you calling Pouncey a stupid thug for having a birthday party scheduled from 11 pm to 5 am? We've had quite a few Dolphins over the years that have been arrested for various things but I don't recall Pouncey's charges. I know he has a lot of tattoos. Crazy. He also has a family and I am pretty sure he is starting to realize he has been put on spotlight and has to be more cautious of his surroundings. Hopefully he matures and gets past all the drama, which I think he will but as we have seen from many athletes in the sports world it can be a real challenge to get on the right track. From the reports I have read from the Dolphins organization, it sounds like they have faith in Pouncey.

Just like I said, if he's not charged he's Finheaven's little angel. Defend him all you want, it really doesn't change my opinion on him being a thug who won't be able to stay on the field when he's getting eventual suspensions.

Pouncey himself had a hard time figuring out how to play center at UF.

I am upon the mighty pedestal of fornicitude.
