To be fair, the Bills offense looked far worse than ours did. They got two touchdowns late in the 3rd quarter after the Bucs put in their second and third string players. CJ Spiller and Fred Jackson were still out there getting carries with 4minutes to play in the 3rd.
But don't take that as a defense of our first team offense. 3 points in 5 drives against a very bad Cowboys defense is absolutely pitiful. Preseason or not, I think that's reason for concern.
I agree. The Bills looked horrible until the 2s were on defense. But the end result is the same. No points. To be fair, the Bills offense looked far worse than ours did. Tannehill led drives of 75 yards, 49 yards, 47 yards and 69 yards.
First drive ended in three points. Second drive was looking great and then fumbled away by Sims. Third drive was a 3 and out. Fourth drive, team was heading down the field with Wallace picking up a first down, but a penalty pushed us to 3rd and 10 and then the O-Line didn't know the snap count and killed the drive. Last drive, Tannehill threw a bad pass.
Would I have liked to see more points by the first team offense? Sure. Does it worry me? No, because some of the stalls in the drives were due to mental errors (penalty, snap count) that can hopefully be cleared up (and hopefully its Clay catching that pass and not Sims in the regular season).
Outside of that, we worked on the run game and showed a huge improvement, as well as took a top 10 offense and held them to 6 points. You can doom and gloom over T-hill if you want, but I am very much looking forward to this year.
It appears that turnovers were the phins big snafu's tonight; -3 in the turnover margin but still won.
Tannehill did not get sacked FWIW
Interestingly; Miami was a 5 pt favorite and the o/u was 45.5... hmmmm?
I've been on the fence with Tannehill and have to admit the doubt is creeping in. He has been consistently inconsistent and that hasn't improved this pre season. No excuses for this team to only put 3 on the board against a defense that bad. You can blame Sims, Wallace, Hartline and Satele for bonehead plays but the simple truth is that in 31 career starts, the Dolphins have scored 30 twice. That's a problem.
Sorry Nubs, but I'm beginning to get concerned. He did not look like he was comfortable executing the pass offense tonight and it was reflected in his efficiency numbers and the scoreboard.
For the first time in a while I look at the Miami Dolphins and think "Hey, these guys might be good enough to win 11 games." And then the QB goes out and looks as bad as I've ever seen him, all things considered.
Not good.
Believe me I want him to succeed. And he has flashed that ability but the simple truth is that in this QB friendly offense we are seeing the same results. Inconsistent play.Last season I said after the Ravens game, even though the result for the team was bad, that it made me a believer in the QB. I thought that if you looked at every pass snap the team played in that game, Tannehill impressed. He looked like a guy who was taking the next step. I thought he was consistently making good decisions and throwing strikes with anticipation. That's not what I saw tonight.
I've had people accuse me of being a hater or a homer, but I'm just trying to be honest based on what I can see on a TV broadcast. Ryan Tannehill does not suck. Ryan Tannehill should not be benched for Matt Moore. I still think Ryan Tannehill is going to be the QB who is going to get this franchise out of the pits. But IN MY OPINION he looked bad tonight, and when your QB looks bad against a bad defense that gives you pause.
Believe me I want him to succeed. And he has flashed that ability but the simple truth is that in this QB friendly offense we are seeing the same results. Inconsistent play.

Was it his fault Sims fumbled that ball?
