Next year's salary cap is projected by some to be $140M which would leave us $1M over with today's contracts. I believe it will be $5M higher, and was right the last 2 years but let's go with the flow. That does not sound good for Phans, and many think we cannot be players in FA. A closer look.

Moore, Clay, Odrick, Wilson, Delmas, Colledge, Moreno, Satele, Shelby, and M Thomas all going to be FA, and we have to replace r re-sign them. More reason to worry.

However, here's few things we can do, with what we save, and dead money it would cost this year.

Ellerbe- Save $5.6M, dead $4.2.

Hartline- Save $3.1M, dead $4.M

Finnegen- Save $5.5M, dead $1M

Starks- Save $5M, dead $1M

Gibson- Save $3.2M, dead $1M

Fields- Save $3.2M, dead $800K

Smith- Save $2.7M, dead $250K

That would total $28.3 in cap space, and $8.5M in dead money to come off next year. Yes, we would have to replace all these players but, aside from Fields, have young, cheap talent waiting to replace them.

On to Wallace. Last year, there was no way to move him with a $27M cap hit. This coming off season, while not easy, it can be done. We have 3 options.

Cut him before June 1, take a $9.6M hit, and save $2.5M. NOT a VG option.

Cut him after June 1 take a $5.2M hit, and save $6.9M.

Trade him, tae a $6.6M hit, and save $5.5M.

I bring Wallace up because I do not see him working on what we paid him A LOT to do. I gave him a pass last year but, not so far this year. I'm not expert enough to know why he is not a deep ball threat but, on this team (so far), he is not. Maybe it's RT, maybe it's him, maybe it's Lazor's scheme. Don't matter. It' not working.

Without the deep threat, he's worth half of what we are paying him, and, with no improvement, I can see the team looking for a better fit. JMO

Wallace has played great this year, so what if he's not catching deep balls. Cutting your best WR because he's not catching enough deep passes for your liking.... That's crazy.

I think the team will remain largely intact, except for Sturgis.

So basically you gutted the roster of a team that is currently 6-4.

PS…you forgot the roll over money from this year.

I'm not a RT hater by any means but you have to be special if you can't realize it's blatantly RT fault the deep balls aren't working. I doubt we resign moreno and leave or WR corp to Jarvis Landry and scrubs. Thank god fans aren't GM.

Stop with the get rid of Wallace crap, you have been pushing this for a while... He is not going anywhere, after year three you can postulate but the contract is setup to have him a min of three years

cut: Ellerbe, Gibson, Fields, Smith

keep: Hartline, Finnegan, Starks

Let Moore walk unless he signs real cheap, Let College and Satele walk (move Pouncey back to Center and draft a guard). Let Shelby walk even though he is good Fede can fill his current role imo.

Resign the rest and just work the cap so it all works out. IMO wallace will be hard to do anything with unless a top WR is cut and we can pick him up.

Well, you are wrong. I defended Wallace all of last year and well as this year, until now. True story.

Not in any way shape, or form. I just gave options on players getting big money, with young guys ready to take their place. VG teams do it all the time.

Im in the minority, but i wouldnt be opposed to keeping Ellerbe one more year, especially if we change coaches and switch back to a 3-4 defense(Todd Bowles?).

According to:

http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/miami-dolphins/dannell-ellerbe/

...his contract starts dropping after 2015. Not that i particularly like "rewarding" a guy who hasnt done a damn thing for us, but he had at least shown he can be a quality player when he was with Baltimore. Depending on what other moves we do in the offseason, its not completely unthinkable to keep him.

Of course, if we have a chance to get a special player at linebacker, then you cut his ass and laugh.

We just need another great draft and maybe get Beast mode out of Seattle.

FWIW, Wallace grades out at #43. Stat wise, he is #22 in yards. #54 in average, Tied for 7-12 on TD's. $20 of 23 od deep throws, and #23 in yards per route. That production is not close to being worth $12M a year.

That production is down due to the offense Miami play in.

Miami spreads the ball around, and doesn't force it to one guy.

Also, the money being paid doesn't bother me, why should it bother you? Miami is still in a good cap situation and even less contributing players will be cut. i.e Hartline, Ellerbe, Wheeler, Gibson.
