Dolphins say Hickey's contract is more than two years

I will give him a chance. However, I liked the idea that he was linked to Joe contractually to attempt to turn the team around. Also, I am not sure why you want him longterm and setting the course for the franchise for years to come. I do not think he is that established that he needs a long commitment.

When did I state my opinion of whether or not I want him long term? I was just pointing out that you are so quick to criticize ever move and you don't know how things will turn out. I'm in a "wait and see" mindset before I form any opinions. Never have I stated that I "want him longterm and setting the course for the franchise for years to come."

The real question: if we miss the playoffs again next season, does the coaching staff stay or go? If go, what do you do with Hickey?

Can Hickey simply say, "Philbin and staff were here when I got here. Not my mess"?

I don't care how many year contract he has. If he does good keep him if he doesn't, no need to let him finish a longer contract.
Our GM search was among the most underwhelming ever in our history, I would like to just focus on the future.

Okay, so they his contract is longer, but they don't disclose any more information. This kind of stuff isn't that important for them to be secretive about every little thing. It's getting a little tired that the Dolphins think they're somehow at an advantage by giving away less info... instead of being open, just seems there is a lot more confusion and darkness and crap because they aren't open. This isn't even important information, just give full disclosure, ****.

My initial impression of Hickey is poor. I will be pleasantly surprised if he does a good job.

His teams draft picks have been subpar. He hasn't shown the ability to build an OL and that is a major rebuild here. His speaking skills strongly suggest he is scatterbrained. Organization and focus seem to escape him. I really don't see what is supposed to give us hope.

Tampa knew more about him than we did. It's like he was a poor man's Brian Gaine candidate. Longer track record with less success and less well regarded in the personnel community. Now it looks like one of his only supporters said good things because he wants a job. And those good things almost sound like damning with faint praise.

I have my fingers crossed but at first blush this seems like a disaster who will bring less talent than Ireland. Next go round, whatever choices Ross made to scare away all the good candidates needs to be undone.
