I think what is important is that Philbin is getting guys that remind all of us of the Packer type offense. Hazel and Landry are two guys that I don't believe Ireland would have seriously considered due to size speed issues. And I am not sure Ireland would have taken two OL in the first three rounds. Not overly excited about Williams per say. He is already 28 and hasn't played much.

I don't think guys are bashing on Hartline, what I believe they are saying is we need our WR's to be more effective inside the 20 (red zone). Our two top WR's caught 4 & 3 passes inside the red zone last year and accounted for a total of 4TD's all season in same red zone. Gibson got hurt and played less than half of the season but still managed 5 receptions and 3TD's himslef. I think they realize we need to be more effective inside the red zone with our WR's. Part of that is offensive scheme, but how much of that is not being able to get open? The reason guys focus on Hartline, is because he's score 1 TD all season for each of his previous 3 years to last. While he's great at moving the chains and getting open between the 20's, he's not effective in the red zone and perhaps the FO is looking to find the red zone threat to come in just for the red zone. Now is this last guy likely to make the team let alone be that threat? Probably not, but I'm fine with bringing in as many guys as possible to increase the odds of finding that guy.
Can't cut or trade Hartline, and Spesh already made it very clear why quite a few times.
Exactly, I don't know why people continually go after Hartline, and sarcastically bring up the 1000 yards. Yes, it's not as big a deal as year past, but the thing is he did do it, and that makes him a quality receiver, whether anyone will admit it or not.

I agree with Spesh that Hartline is very underrated and I even had no idea he had back to back 1000 yard seasons. Only thing that makes sense is his injury is much worse than we know which would explain why we are feverishly bringing in a stop gap replacement.

Hartline had back to back 1000 yard seasons with a QB that can throw to zero separation windows. Period.
Hartline did ZERO at WR that any middle-of-the-road WR couldn't have done. He made very few plays that were above average.
Hartline got yards that the route and his QB got him. He did not make more out of the catch after the catch.
He got worse the closer to the endzone he got. He made his hay between the 20s. He disappeared against high quality D.
People talking yards for a WR need to look at how those yards happened. What jumps out on tape skill wise w. Hartline?
I'll tell you: The ONLY thing that jumps out on tape are things that are negative: Falling down. Poor YAC. Not fighting through to ball when CBs sit over his predictable routes. Etc. Etc. Etc.
Hartline is to the 2 what Bess was to the 3. A WR that limits the offense while supposedly "getting his yards."

Yeah, that YAC stat is a very important one. Hartline only averaged 4.1. That was the same as AJ Green, better than Andre Jojnson (3.8), Victor Cruz (3.6), .2 worse than Vincent Jackson, and .4 worse than Fitz. Don't want any of those guys either. lol
Sunsentinel.com has a quick highlight video of him up, and he has a nice jump ball.. A need we have for the redzone

Again: How did those yards occur? In a WR that's getting single coverage w. the other teams second or third best DB? Or in other WRs getting top DB plus help on most downs?
Stats mean nothing without context. Anyone that uses stats to puff Hartline as a great WR isn't looking at context.
It's amazing that someone who claims to want the team to succeed at a high level would be so attached to rank mediocrity at skill positions.
