I'm hoping along with ya. A grizzly old vet at RG to lend a hand would not be a bad thing to help James along in his first year. There are none out there now but, I belive there will be one or two availabe in late cuts. This would make me feel a whole lot better on our OL this year.
Agree.
One thing -- with the cupboards SO bare on OL (last year: Starters who had no business starting, and behind those starters, pure crap) and hurting at both left and right Tackle, the depth has to be a concern. Right now, with James starting RT and Albert LT who is the swing tackle who will fill in should either go down? Fox? Who is a huge question mark himself? In this league, solid backups often are the ones who win you the playoffs. And with the cupboards bare, this is going to be our Achilles heel. I think it's clear that Hickey sees the problem. His off-season moves have been nothing if not to improve the OL not just 2-5 but 2-8. But it's tough in a league with increased emphasis on OL. Everyone is scouring FA and waiver wires. And some teams have a lot more bargaining power than the Phins (one reason why NE is able to gamble with drafts: They get their choice of FAs and also get the best compensatory returns when vets walk. They can also pay vets less b.c. they almost guarantee playoffs and SB runs. Miami has to pay top dollar on the other hand. Top dollar and a promise to get better, lol).
So, yes. Another solid vet guard of swing tackle/guard would be great. And IF THOMAS is still crap, the need for such a move just went up dramatically.
