dolphins sign larry johnson

if larry johnson was the fallback guy i agree we should have signed ricky...he'd do more with his 5 carries a game than lj could ever at this point...i still don't understand why they didn't use another pick on a rb and we wouldn't be bringing in flat out garbage like this...

i sure hope this cat doesn't make our 53 cause its gonna speak volumes about our rb core/depth if he does...

I dont understand.....Ronnie or Ricky HAS to be better than LJ....I have to think the price tag they would have produced would have been greater than the cheaper services of Larry J.....I dont like this...

Yep don't panic yet very well a short term pickup until the roster is cut down to 53. Hillard could be banged up too. So I would "guess" this is just a opportunity for the staff to kick the tires of a old stud and if those tires don't have a little bounce in em kick old Larry out the door.

i can find someone off someone elses cuts that can offer us more than larry johnson...GUARANTEED...its a waste of time signing...kory sheets no doubt needed to go but to bring in this guy who was washed up years ago is a waste of time...period

Maybe the team will after the final game. They can't sign someone from the future and bring him into preseason games three and four. LJ is no lock to make the team, it is bascially a tryout for him. If he impresses, he makes it as the 3rd string back. If not, they go with Hilliard or look at those post-preseason cuts. Signing LJ on August 23rd does not prevent the team from picking a back up on waivers September 4th.

Well, with Merling potentially on his way out, we need to add another guy with a history of domestic violence and problems with the law to round out our roster.

Our team needs to support these type of guys in society and reward them with high paying jobs.

We can only hope LJ is the next coming of Cecil Collins.

if lj makes your roster period its not a good thing...i mean for gods sakes the guy couldn't even get on the field with washington and that group of has beens at the position...ryan torain the best of a last year at least awful bunch

i'll just hope that i never see this guy active on game day or i'll probably lose my lunch

Amazing that there can be so much debate about a 3rd or possibly 4th string RB. How is it that this move makes some so motivated to blame DT's ability, nobody related K.Sheets to DT before but some how L.Johnson is now the potential feature back????

People have an agenda against this FO so hard up they probably blame the recent earthquakes on them too!

kory sheets and lj are not the same kind of backs...losing kory sheets has nothing to do with lj being brought in...this move at least partially says to me miami wants to try and light a fire under daniel thomas that there is gonna be some veteran competition in camp...and there's nothing wrong with veteran competition...but at least bring in a veteran who has something to offer and isn't gonna look like a slug every time he gets the ball...lj and d thomas are viewed as between the tackles downhill runners...not the scat back like stuff we saw with kory sheets and the same stuff we're gonna see a lot of from reggie bush in the regular season and grigsby brings to the table

this move imo is all about d thomas and trying to motivate him...but again you need to bring in a real threat at least...

Maybe, but perhaps the Dolphins just decided they want two power backs and one speed guy instead of two speed guys and one power back. It isn't like Sheets was competing with other speed guys for the 3rd running back spot, instead he was competing with a power back in Hilliard. Perhaps this is more of an indication that they were unhappy with Sheets, Hilliard and Grigsby.

Its a questionable decision. Thats what most are saying.

This guy has a LONG history of domestic violence and other unsavory acts.

You DONT bring this type of cancer on your team ESPECIALLY when the guy is not producing.

If you wanted a 3rd or 4th RB you could go out and find the same or better without the issues.

quite frankly if you ask me and off what i've seen they should be...hilliards so run of the mill as a ball carrier its not funny...admittedly though he hasn't gotten much opportunity this year but maybe thats why he hasn't...they know he's at best average in that regard...sheets has stunk since the day he got here...just a body...i hope they weren't hoping for miracles there...its hard to be unhappy with grigsby though considering he was an undrafted free agent...you got to look at anything you get from him this season as a bonus if he helps us at all...thats got should be on the p squad written all over it...i wouldn't be afraid to expose him to the other teams on final cuts...if he gets picked up oh well but i doubt he would...he'd be on my p squad along with pat devlin who doesn't validate a roster spot either right now

i just hope these guys have a backup plan...if when reggie bush gets injured cause odds are damn good he will at some point and d thomas is gonna take an awful lot of hits the way he runs...and i hope that backup plan isn't lj and hilliard...cause we're gonna be in a world of hurt if it shakes out like that
