Dolphins sign shelley

Yes.....now seal the deal Miami....do no let Smith out of the building, without his name on the dotted line today :-)

Make him an offer he can't refuse...."One of two things will be on that paper in the next 2 min Shelly, either your signature, or....."

Well, we need help for sure. Not sure how muc of an up grade he is since he started only 2 games last year. He seems to fit what we're trying to do tho as far as him being able to pull? Considering he's never been a starter he sure is taking his time.

Ozzy rules!!

Have to think our odds of getting him are good. He is in our building right now, has an offer, played for our o-line coach in Houston and we offer him a good shot at being a starter.

I get the feeling he is waiting to see if NE can fit him in while they work the cap etc..hope I am wrong.

Shelly is solid, but not an All Pro.

I hope the offer reflects that and MIA does not overpay.

We can get an all Pro LG by drafting Zach Martin.

All part of the game. Miami is trying to sign him as cheap as they can and he wants starter money. Hopefully they get it worked out.

I'm high on Martin but how in the world can you call him an All-Pro? Dude hasn't seen NFL caliber D-lines yet but he's an all pro?

smh

TBH I'm surprised all the free agents that have signed so far in the league have signed so quick. Did Albert go elsewhere before Miami? Mitchell and Miami? Decker and the Jets? Ware and Denver? Etc...

I thought it used to be that guys would have numerous suitors and they'd take some time in deciding. I guess the technology today makes it easier?

Day 1 the star names go fast ie last year Wallace signed within 10 mins of free agency opening and we outbid the Chargers for Mithcell so moved fast on that one.

As for Decker.. the WR market seems to be dead this year

I'm not sure Martin falls to us anymore.

Shelley was drafted by Houston so John Benton should know him pretty well. We'll see what happens. Obviously whatever we offered didn't blow him away or he would have signed. I'm sure all the offers are pretty close in money amount and guaranteed money so it comes down to where he wants to be and what he thinks is his best fit. If he goes to the Pats he's just going to sit the bench and be there for depth. So if he wants to start I would think it's between us and whatever two other teams are interested in him. We offer a chance to start.

If he signed here he's guaranteed a starting spot.. Thomas and Brenner are definitely not beating anyone out, well anyone with a pulse..

I think it's a bit early to say what Dallas is capable of. We invested a third round pick on him, second on Taylor, and another third on Will Davis. These midround picks aren't garbage picks, they're valuable and they have to develop and contribute, like now. Second year in the league, full offseason to get up to speed. It's time. We will not be able to build a team only through free agency, sorry this isn't the MLB. We need our midround picks to contribute and become solid to great for us.

So I'll be holding out judgment on Thomas till after this offseason.

I think after the weekend is over and the first wave is over, we will see more of that, multiple team visits etc with the next tier of free-agents.
