Dolphins Studs vs. Duds

Both tackles have been studs. The rest of the offense has been up and down and now up again beside Miller and Wallace who have been solid through out.

Last years cornerback's Davis and Taylor have been duds. The rest of the defense has been up and down and now up again beside the D line and starting corners which has been solid through out.

Our probowl punter has been a dud so far as well.

The ole' cause and effect debate. Did the game plan really make Tannehill throw the ball more accurately or did Tannehill throwing the ball more accurately make the game plan look better?
I'd say it was the latter via the o-line playing lights out.

Yeah their pass Defense is SO Good and So technically sound they decided to cover a 3 WR bunch set with 1 CB.

That's cute. A little jill's fan sees a still shot pic and thinks he can diagnose the defense. If you would have seen the development of the offense through out the game, you would know it was actually a great play call by Lazor.

8:59 in the first quarter 2nd & 1, we line up in the exact same formation in which Wallace scored the touchdown on the bubble screen in the second quarter; trips bunch right, RB lines up strongside. The Raiders are playing a 4-2-5; the "Will" LB follows TE Clay outside the hashmarks; "Sam" LB stays home with Miller. Lamar Miller motions to the weak side, takes the handoff, cuts back inside and picks up the first with a 21 yard run.

Fast forward to the second quarter 14:24. Same formation trips bunch right, also 2nd down. There are two CBs and a FS playing over top of the 3 wide bunch; right before the snap the "Will" LB and Nickel CB come down to show blitz with the CB and FS still playing over the top of the bunch formation. Miller motions again to the weak side (at this moment is what the pic shows) and at the snap the CB blitzes but the "Will" LB is held in via play action despite his assignment being an underneath zone coverage. RT slings out the quick bubble screen to Wallace for the TD, negating the corner blitz and causing confusion to the "Will" LB with the play action pass.

You will rarely ever see three defenders huddled up over a trips bunch WR set. That doesn't make any sense. Most of the time it's two CBs and a S up over top, which is exactly what the Raiders did on this play except they came with a CB blitz. We made the better play call by showing play action, which worked because of a previous run called in the same formation earlier, and kept the LB at bay.

Bad call defensively for the Raiders or excellent play call by the Dolphins? Obviously both since we scored. But also goes to show there was a lot more strategically going on with the offense and defense than what was ill-attempted to prove by a mere screen shot.

A LOT of people misread screen shots.

Whether it's a function of Madden football or simply a lack of playing the game, people misread routes, coverages, real-time stuff.

And one of the biggest errors is the inability to understand throwing lanes, movement of defender, receiver, etc.

It's actually kinda funny when people say stuff like "He could have hit this receiver!" Or, "This guy was wide open!" Lots of times that simply isn't the case, for various reasons: pressure, throwing lanes and timing.

There were mistakes in Oakland's coverage but, for me, it was mostly no pressure on RT which led to a VG game.

As to Wake being called a dud based on only 2 sacks, JJ Watt has the same 2 sacks. Another "dud." LOL

JJ Watt is a bad comparison. Watt effects the game a lot more than Wake does simply because he can collapse the line from his DE position in the 3-4. He also has 2 batted balls and 1 80-yard pick 6 to go with 19 tackles where Wake only has 7 tackles in 4 games. 7 tackles is pretty low.

Completely agree but, if CBS wants to go with the BS of sacks only, he is also a dud. Sacks have apparently taken over, in the minds of many, as a standard in judging pass rushers and is dead wrong.
