Dolphins to place Martin on reserve/non-football injury list

Sounds like Martin didn't want this to be handled publicly but it's expanded beyond his control and now he's trying to throttle back the noise in the hopes of getting back into the league -- or maybe even the Dolphins -- without being seen as a snitch. Sort of like how the victim of assault will often refuse to press charges for fear of making things "worse".

At this point though Martin would be better served making a full report and pressing for an investigation, imo. Only when there's a full accounting of what went on will people be able to place blame. Perhaps on him, perhaps on Incognito or other members of the team, perhaps on Philbin or Jim Turner for not managing the situation. As it is Martin comes off sounding weak and Incognito gets to bluster on twitter because regardless of the facts, if Martin doesn't want to make an issue of it there's a limit as to what the team and the NFLPA can do. They're not just going to do it to do it. Martin has to want them to do it.

Sounds like -- and this is just my opinion -- the Dolphins at minimum have to decide between Incognito and Martin. Right now they're going with Incognito and Martin won't be back to the team this year. Obviously, they're more concerned with locker room cohesion than with other factors. Next year I'd expect them to cut bait on both. I think (I hope anyway) we'll have a new GM by then and they'll just wash their hands on the situation. Martin hasn't helped his leverage in this situation with his play on the field. The funny thing is I think his best home in the NFL might be as a left guard. Anyway I doubt we'll see Martin again this year or in a Dolphins uniform ever again.

this may be true but you didnt say why? This is what I find so frustrating about peoples opinions around here, you dont back them up with anything. Therefore, its just your gut reaction. Its not really an opinion based on anything in fact other than "he quit". I say, you dont consider the bigger picture since J. Martin has been here.

What do you mean? I explained why I don't want him back.

He is unreliable. He is not made for an NFL locker room, and if he doesn't accept that, he is prone to quit again.

There is nothing wrong with not being cut out for that kind of atmosphere, but you have to be real with yourself and accept that before hurting your team by quitting in the middle of a season. He is letting a lot of people down that depended on him, that's the loser move. I would have no issues if Martin had done this during training camp. But 3 days before the make or break game of the season? That I take issue to.

And if he did it once, he can do it again when the stress becomes too much.

Heck, even Ricky who I commended for the way he returned ended up letting down the team again with another failed drug test.

You know what else makes Martin a snake? If ESPN is true that there are texts and v mail showing harassment...who saves that **** over time? A tactical snake.

CBS' La Canfora says Incognito likes to intentionally walk into people, make "others feel uncomfortable & make threatening remarks"to Martin.

:boohoo:don't bump into me

If it's true that he's being a dick to team employees in the building, that's inexcusable.

People who save evidence like texts and threatening phone calls are snakes? Listen to yourself, dude.

Everyone has worked with dicks. It happens in almost every workplace. I've never been at a place with more than 3 people where everyone gets along with everyone else. It just isn't realistic.

Most people just ignore the dick and go on with their work. Now, if the dick becomes incessantly abusive, guess what most people do?? They bring it up to management, not quit! If Martin didn't go through the proper channels to deal with the issue, that's on him. Just up and quitting like that, without trying to deal with the real issue, is a loser move, especially as it impacts completely innocent people.

Or you decide to be a dick right back, and hide their mouse and keyboard, change their language settings on their computer to japanese, and wallpaper their cubicle in hello kitty stuff...

True story of how we got rid of our dick at work. He saw it, went nuts, threw a chair, and never came back.

We don't know what recourse Martin sought at this point, if any. He might have brought it up through proper channels and nothing was done. He also might have misjudged his ability to handle it. Everybody has a breaking point, but we don't always know where that point is. There's still a metric **** ton of unknowns here.

Its kinda like Locke in our fantasy football league. HUGE DICK. always bullying other members to try to make crazy one sided trades, constant over the top taunting. I've reported it to our league manager many times but captain laissez fairy doesn't do ****.

That will alienate the entire team. People who are in JM's corner will have to move away. JM will have to talk to the entire team in order to come back IMO. He will have to communicate honestly and keep that info within. Dont let Armando and co. know anything and just play ball. Martin may be needed later. Martin needs to communicate though and not through twitter.

I've run out of places to tell you to shove a tampon, Nancy.

This is true. If it comes out that he did bring it up the proper channels, and they did nothing, that is just one more mark against the current regime and they need to go.

But it doesn't seem to me that he did, or you would think he would leak that info to the media, and we have heard nothing of the sort so far.

The revelation that a guy was a huge ******* will alienate people... not from the *******, but from the guy who doesn't think he shouldn't have to deal with a huge ******* every day?

At some point you've got to **** or get off the pot. Martin has decided he's mad as hell and he's not going to take this anymore, but instead of sticking his head out of the window and yelling he's backing off and not making a full case. A mistake, imo. Whether he realizes it or not, he's committed. He might wish he could go back and handle it differently, but at this point the only chance he has to have a career is to make Incognito an unambiguous villain.

Despite how motivated guys like Schefter and Mortensen are going to be to make Incognito look like, you know, Biff Tannen -- and it bears noting here how stupid Incognito was to bait them -- they can only go so far if Martin keeps backing off and Incognito can leak texts to Darlington about how Martin doesn't blame Incognito for anything.

Cornfed in the first round next year................

BINGO.....the Phinz IMHO must focus on the offensive line (aka Cornfed) in the 2014 draft. It's as clear as mud that the Phinz need better players on the OL. Football 101, if your OL is hot stinky garbage your team's got little to no chance to win. Clearly it is true that Offensive Linemen are NOT play makers....but the OL allows play makers to make plays. It is true that Offensive Linemen do NOT run for TDs....but the OL allows RBs to run for TDs. It is true that Offensive Linemen do NOT pass for TDs....but the OL allows QBs to step up in a pocket to pass for TDs. It is true that Offensive Linemen do NOT catch passes for TDs....but the OL allows WRs time to run their routes to catch TDs. Bottom-line, it's time to show me da BEEF in the 2014 draft, get some better offensive linemen to let da Phinz play makers make plays IMHO.
