Dolphins to place Martin on reserve/non-football injury list

Maybe he is gay & can't accept it? So strange

seriously? someone has an emotional break, and the first thing you do is dial up the homophobic inference?

I shudder to think how you'll handle any emotional problem that might arise with your son/daughter someday.

Whatever the problem is with Martin, it does not amount to a tiny fraction of the problems that Ritchie has & will always have.

Whatever happens with Martin this year, I would bet money Incognito is playing somewhere else next year.

I was concerned about Martin since I saw him Hard Knocks. He just looked out of place. Even when they gave the rookies their haircuts, he had a "deer in the headlights" look on his face. He is obviously a very smart guy, but just doesn't have that mean & nasty switch to flip in order to play football. I really think he was looking for a way out. Correct if I'm wrong, but I think both his parents are attorneys. Which leads me to believe he's the "hit me and I'll sue" type.

Maybe the guys were just trying to toughen him up. Make him play angry.

It sucks we wasted a draft pick, but really, I'd rather have a guy with heart that bleeds for his team. A guy who would stand up for himself regardless of the cost. A guy you would want fighting by your side. A guy you can trust.

I ask all of you who you'd rather have besides you when the sh@t hits the fan, Richie or Martin?

From Andrew Abramson:

"ESPN report says Phibin unsucesfully tried getting Martin's dad to release joint statement saying family is working w/team to resolve issues"

I'm pretty confident when I say that this dude's career is over at this point. This is starting to smell like a "trying to cover your ass so the team doesn't go after you to recover money" type of situation now.

I wonder what sort of trade value he'd have. Certainly not 2nd rd, but he's young, skilled, and cheap. Maybe a couple 4ths?

6th or 7th round. He's played poorly and I'm pretty sure teams are going to be wary of a player who pulls this kind of thing.

this hole thing sucks. The fact that we wasted a draft pick, and spent all this time developing a RT that has got us no where n now we start over again at the position while LT is still a problem. Our next draft is going to be nothing but lineman and i dont want to hear crap about anyone complaining about us taking lineman when all they do is complain about our oline. Incognito has given this franchise a bad rep, the texans situation, the bouncer thing, now this bullying that has made national news. Its clear that incognito isnt the angel everyone on here is making him out to be, and quite frankly he isnt worth the trouble because he sucks. Just rewatch the bengals game 1st drive where incog gets destroyed up the middle by the bengals DT. If im the dolphins right now im wiping my hands and letting him walk after this season. Cut ties, start over, rebuild the o-line. Lets do whats best for the dolphins. Overhaul the hole damn Line in the offseason.

He shouldn't be paid mental issue or not. If I was depressed and didn't want to go to work I would lose my job so suck it up and deal with it its life. I guess when your making 6 figures you don't have to live life like the rest of the shmucks of the world

I was wrong. I expected Martin back within 2 or 3 weeks.

It obviously doesn't work that way with this team. When there are strange stories and detours, it's out the door, whether it's Matt Roth or Davone Bess and now this.

I agree with Walrus. Martin needs to take it further and make a full report. Present it to the team and the league offices and don't hold back anything. I'm a firm believer that you don't benefit with someone like Richie Incognito on the roster or in the lockerroom. It gets even worse when other players and other members of the organization see what we gets away with, and think it's acceptable if not proper.

I've mentioned many times the dramatic change in the Dolphins in the mid '70s compared to earlier. Bobby Beathard got sloppy and took many chances on low character guys. It was rationalized in the beginning since they had high ability level. I'm talking about guys like Darryl Carlton and Donald Reese and Randy Crowder. Don't believe the nonsense that no information was available in those days. There were frequent whispers of lockeroom discontent, of guys who were causing trouble and not fully committed to other teammates or the product on the field. Then it blew up in high profile fashion when all three of them got in trouble, in two separate episodes. It was such a jolt to the organization than the Dolphins had to publicly apologize and pledge to clean up their act. The 1977 draft was going to prioritize high character guys. We ended up with A.J. Duhe and Bob Baumhower and a resurgence that carried over to the early and mid '80s.

Sorry, but I believe everything negative about Richie Incognito. A guy like that doesn't change. He makes a few offseason efforts and is handed a few flimsy awards and concludes it's a big joke, that he can continue to be a jerk behind the scenes. Avoid the penalties and look how I fool the world. Martin's reputation has already been damaged, for those who will take the simplistic wimp or traitor route. He needs to open the eyes of the owner and the commissioner.

I still can't believe that Incognito is the face of the franchise on those public service messages than are beamed into the stadium on the big screen during home games. I think I'm going to contact the Dolphins regarding that aspect. It's merely another example of lousy instincts by high members of this era, and more proof that you need to prioritize long term evidence, and not recent irrelevancy.

Its kinda like Locke in our fantasy football league. HUGE DICK. always bullying other members to try to make crazy one sided trades, constant over the top taunting. I've reported it to our league manager many times but captain laissez fairy doesn't do ****.

Call ESPN nancy boy. I dare you...

we have really nailed it on 2nd rd picks over the last decade! 1st and 3rdrs too! Keep killin it Miami!
