Dolphins to release DE Merling

Which player gets us close to the Giants line? Anyone in this draft resemble Jason Pierre Paul?

Dan MArino on the record saying hes OK with strecthing the draft pick to select Tannehill if the coaching staff believes he is good enough. I am with the HOF phin QB 100%.

I really would like the Bills to bring him in for a look at 4-3 LDE for depth more Mario Williams.

IMO coming out of Clemson he was always going to have his best chance at success as a LDE in the 4-3.

That seemed like a reluctant pick, a force based on supposed value. I remember posting that on Finheaven the night of the draft. The networks had a Miami war room camera and there were literally no smiles or enthusiasm when we took Merling. Jimmy Johnson was more excited about his little dog than we were about Merling.

I suspect our plan -- perhaps plans -- fell apart in the picks immediately prior, and a trade down didn't materialize, so we were stuck with Merling, perhaps a compromise choice among different factions.

That's a lot of guesswork but the alternative is we have no idea what we're doing.

Merling at OLB was an alltime example of no chance. I remember that idea kicked about. He was always a blubbery butt with poor foundational strength. IMO, he needed to drop weight and work on his first step at 4-3 DE.

Kuechly would be the anti-Merling, a guy who competes from the first mini camp meeting and changes the atmosphere. Those of us who remember the dedication of the early '70s guys have been disgusted at all the goofballs we've drafted year after year. Listen to the draft day interview and "you know" it's a waste within minutes.

However, I am confident we'll end our one-year streak of drafting a guy who blew a hole in someone's chest.

if we happen to choose a DT with our 8 pick, im seriously done with this team. i mean i'll watch the games, but i sure as **** wont be wasting anymore time discussing them on here

The new coaching staff had to find out for themselves if Merling was fat and lazy.
He was a bust from the start. Odrick will follow..... down the road.

No chance odrick comes from a football background

Seems to me we are getting Tannehil or Cox with no 8

How would you be done with the team, yet still watch the games?

And why do you waste your time in the first place?

interesting there is a thread on theganggreen about possibly signing Merling as another Maybin....

Ireland has a plan, its do we agree with it or not is the question. I happy about this move. It was obvious that we were trying to find an improvement at his position. Merling hasnt shown the commitment to get the most out of his talent. He wasnt a cancer, he was just not a good player. I thought he would of been released last year, i guess the new coaching staff gave the green light on letting him go. It will be interesting to see how we use this draft to fill the holes on this team. The fins have looked hard at DE, QB and OLB, so we will likely fill those needs in this draft.
