The Miami Dolphins are going to work out kicker Brandon Bogotay on Sunday, Aaron Wilson of the National Football Post reports citing a league source.

Bogotay played collegiately at Georgia. He handled kickoff duties, converted seven career point-after touchdowns and made 1 of 2 field goals as a senior with his only miss coming from 52 yards.

Bogotay kicked behind Minnesota Vikings Pro Bowl kicker Blair Walsh at Georgia.

1 of 2? He doesnt even take field goals then?

Some kicker

I guess Sturgis hasn't been impressing so far in the off season if they are bringing in someone else.

Sometimes you bring in another kicker if your starter has a slight injury or needs rest. I doubt a kid whose resume is that he went 1-of-2 in college is being looked at to push for a roster spot.

Just brought in to share training camp and preseason work. Don't read anything into it

Teams usually carry two kickers in training camp and preseason. Sturgis may need a little bit of rest, don't need that groin issue acting up again.

The interesting kicking battle is in Buffalo. The Bills drafted FSU's Dustin Hopkins last year and he got hurt so they brought in Dan Carpenter. Now Carpenter is playing well enough the Bill will likely cut Hopkins without ever having him suit up a regular season game.

If hey bring him in, he's there for rest and competition. Give Sturgis that little "push" since there's another guy there. This game is completely built around position competing.

so, the next time you fumble a couple work assignments it'd be ok with you to get sacked, right?

it would depend. did those fumbled assignments cause the company tons of money? did it prevent the company from advancing, and possibly obtaining the highest award in that companies field of work? if yes, then yes, that person should get fired, and they should understand why. especially when that person is a veteran.
