Dolphins vs Bills Pre-game discussion

Miami can and should win this game, but it will not come without huge amounts of angst and worry on our part for most of the game.

I said before and I will say it again, I hope the coaches have a great plan set up, and the players work their butts off to be able to execute the plays on Sunday.

I expect a 15 plus point win EVERYTIME Bills play the Fins. But that is because I still go on the HATE that I have for the Dolphins based on the Rivalry

Rivalry? I don't think of the Bills as a rivalry. I kinda see them as the ugly adopted kid in the AFCE everybody kinda forgets about as he plays in his room. Hell, even their own city sends them away to canada from time to time.

I'm thinking Fish 24-27, Bills 13-17.

There hasn't been a Dolphins-Bills rivalry since the 90s man. That rivalry died when we both started sucking.

This is going to be a hard fought game, but I am optimistic that the Phins will win. The main reason is that I believe we have demonstrated better offensive production. I know that our yardage numbers from our first game are very similar.

Oops, Hit send accidentally. That is reason for the edit. The Phins scored 33 points and generated 25 first downs with a minus -1 turnover margin. The Bills scored 23 points and generated 15 first downs with a +2 turnover margin. I really did not see the game, so I am not confident about this interpretation.

I'm a Bills fan and here are my thoughts.

1) The Bills are not a great team. The Dolphins aren't either. I can see the Bills winning and I can also see the Dolphins winning.

2) It's amazing the overreaction Dolphins fans are having to beating an aging Patriots team with a bad OL. I mean, the Bills won last week too -- but we know better than to overreact. You would think Dolphins fans would have learned this by now. Do you not remember starting 3-0 last season? And then losing 8 of your next 13 games? I'm not even trying to talk smack. The Bills could be 5-0 and I still wouldn't believe we were any good until we were in the playoffs.

3) It's also amazing watching you act as if EJ is some terrible QB that you will easily destroy. Let me go on record by saying that many Bills fans cant stand me on the Bills forum because I am NOT a fan of EJ. I don't think he is the future. BUT - he IS at least as good as Thad Lewis, and most likely better. You remember Thad, right? The 3rd string QB who beat you not once, but TWICE, last season?

So uhm, yeah. I think the Dolphins could definitely win.

Heck, the Dolphins could end up kicking our ass all over the field.

But your overreaction to the Patriot games is hilarious.

Besides the overreaction part I don't disagree with a lot of this. I would say overjoyed is the correct word though. In fact, now that we beat NE I think a lot of us are even more nervous about the Buffalo game. All fans of mediocre teams envision the way to success and we are no different. Beating NE and beating them handily was a big hurdle to overcome but there are still many hurdles left to overcome.

The difference between our teams will come down to QB play most likely and I wouldn't bet my life on either outcome. Manuel has a lot of redeeming qualities, first and foremost he has the poise of a ten year vet. And I think your GM was doing a hell of a job. But the Orton deal is a real head scratcher on both fronts and if I were you I would be seriously concerned over that development.

I do remember the 3-0 start but at no time during it did I feel as confident as I do now. I think we managed more than 30 once all of last season. We're already 1 for 1 this season and our offense wasn't even as good as they could be. A big difference is before if Tannehill sucked we had nothing. Now we may have a running game to pick up the slack. Huge difference.

Nice reverse psychology, not working. I caught that bud

Caught what?

Then you must be 10 years old.

Because for 3 decades the Bills and Fish were one of the best rivalries in the NFL. And the Bills for over a decade were the Patriots. The Pats and Colts were the red headed step children of the AFC East.

They were a strong rivalry in the late 80's and 90's, but I still look at the Jets as the biggest rivals (as least in terms of teams I despise). I at least respect the Bills and Bills fans because like the Dolphins....it has been a long time since they were a respected franchise (as for the Jets and Pats....**** them both). Hopefully both teams can see some success and that ol rivalry can be renewed.

Well, I'm 40 ... and outside of the 90's we've always been much bigger rivals with the Jets. Sorry to bust your bubble.

That is the Different Older Bills fans this is always the rivalry the history there still runs deep with hate for the fins.

I live in NY, Bils fans have one decade of relevance, roughly from 1988 to 1999, other than that it has been a whole lotta a nadda.

Pretending we have a chance and acting all nice so u can get the real result. I jinx your team!

lol

I like what I have seen of Ja'Wuan James but the coaches CAN NOT leave him alone vs Mario Williams. PERIOD! Mario will get at least one clean shot on Tannehill if James is left 1on1 against him the entire game. Sims and Clay MUST be used over there to help James.

I wouldn't rush to judgement on that. If Mario does get his paws on Tannehill once, it wouldn't be the end of the world, just the end of a down (and we had 58 of those last year). I think James needs to be left to see how he handles Williams. I suspect he'll be capable enough mirroring him and washing him backfield, without ever being fully in control!

I also would hesitate using an in-line TE too much and reducing our receiving options. Where we'll hurt the Bills is attacking their secondary, imo. Moreno versus their o-line looks like a good matchup and I'd hope we can draw their LBs and safeties in to create space and single coverage for our receivers. Clay could be a big factor there and I don't want to waste him on the line.

Obviously, if Mario is chewing James up, we'll have to react, but for me the starting gameplan should be to let the O-line survive on its own wits, get Buffalo respecting the run early and hit them with Clay and the WRs when the box fills up.
