Posts like this make me laugh. You do realize that Tannehill was never on the field at the same time as Thad Lewis and Geno Smith, right? He never played "against them".

There has been no stability in Miami, stability at Head Coach and QB have been big for New England. Everyone worship the ground the Patriots walk on but for the better part of the Belichick era Miami's defense has been equal or better, quite a accomplishment given the parade of coaches in Miami. New England has had the luxury of drafting the best player available where Miami has had to draft positions. Neither team drafts all that well but it is easier to draft the best player than the best position player.
I know a few Patriot fans and they are as loyal and look through patriot covered glasses, but they will also admit Tannehill makes them worry some because they know the value of a high end franchise QB and Tannehill has caught many eyes this season. The Pats on the other hand have questions after Brady, and Brady is older and if this year is any gauge of things he is in decline.

The Patriots have Belicek - he's the best coach in the NFL right now. He knows how to use his personnel and limit/remove your strength. Brady makes it very difficult to beat the Patriots. Belicek and Brady - one of the best combo (coach-qb) in the history of the NFL. He's a lot like Shula - give him a decent QB and average talent and he will beat you.

The Patriots have also built their offensive scheme around the teams strengths, especially Brady. Something the Dolphins have yet to do with Tannehill but hopefully the new OC will do so along with adding some new weapons for him. At least when that is done then we quickly will know if Tannehill is the 'one'. Personally, I'm still not convinced he is but am really hoping he can develop/mature into the talented leader QB this team has been needing for far too long.

Every year is a year for itself. Every year any team has a chance to become great with choice moves. We've failed every year. Patriots have done consistently better every year. The reason is obvious, they have better decision makers who make the right moves. Every year the decision makers at Dolphins have a chance to create a roster and coach to win the Superbowl, and every year they have failed so far. Let's hope that changes this year, there is a chance.
Well... We already have won the division with one of them present. To say something like that is defeatist and pretty foul. What's the point in turning up then? We may as well trade every draft pick for picks next year and wait like pathetic losers until another team starts making bad decisions.
They're good. The make great choices. They make great trades. They take some calculated risks in the draft but also make some very solid, sensible picks. They have the luxury of not needing every draft pick and exercising the better value of 'next year'. Success breeds success.
In the meantime, we've spent nearly fifteen years making bad decisions. Coaches, GMs, free agents, VPs... You name it. It only takes one good decision to turn this thing around. No reason why we can't be just as competitive over the next ten years as the Pats have been the last ten.
The luxury of having no question marks over your signal caller AT ALL for nearly fifteen years sure helps too. Hopefully Tanny gives us that luxury or if not, we find the real one damn quick.

It's a little of both. For all the Pats bad draft picks (and there are quite a few). They have gotten some impact players in there. Ireland's issue was that he (and Bill Parcells) believed 2-3 ok players is better than getting one great player (see trading back with San Diego ending up with Jared Odrick, Koa Misi, and Tim Dobbins when Earl Thomas was available).
But there's also been coaching.
The Pats have been hit with injuries all over the field and they get production out of a variety of different misfits. Outside of the Lou Anamarou/Blue Adams (secondary coaches) and Kacey Rodgers, can you honestly say anybody on our staff can do that? MAYBE Ken O'Keefe for the development of Hartline and Matthews, but that's it really.

The Patriots have been killing the draft ever since we have started sucking at it. Whoever in this thread said the Pats dont draft well and make their hay in FA is way off. The Patriot philosphy has been to stockpile picks such that they enter most drafts with 9-12 draft picks, not merely 7. They come to the draft with plenty of ammo, knowing the more shots they take the more they will hit on. Sure, they miss, but they hit on many as well. They draft impact players while we have drafted guys who merely suit up and play - you barely notice them, or they are outright cut.
The Patriots then do a superior job of getting players to fit their system and develop them. We meanwhile have a new system every 2 years. The Patriots get the most out of their talent.
Add in Brady factor (huge) and continuity of top management plus stable and well organized ownership, and you get what you have seen for past 12 years. We have basically been the anti-Patriots. Everything that works, we do opposite.

I said Brady and Belichick. NE had 11 wins without Brady. With him they may have gone 14-2 who knows. Miami only won the division because Brady was out. How is that proof? They haven't won the division with Brady healthy.....ever.
But again the Pats know what to get. They know that their offense always works best in the dink and dunk so they go get shifty little WRs; Deon Branch, David Patten, Wes Welker, Julian Edleman, Danny Amendola. They know what type of player works in their system and they get said player. When have we actually taken that approach?
Hell the Steelers have done the same thing. They don't draft guys that don't fit the system and will reach for a guy who does. Packers do the same thing.
