Dolphins working on deal for Louis Delmas

Great.

I think I was right about when Jones sucks and is overrated more than anyone on the team. I was also right when I said Clemons is much more consistent and helps limit big plays.

I will say right now with Delmas, we are looking at 5-8 games and also playmaking ability with him. But we are also looking at giving up much more big plays.

This may be a wash, Delmas for Chris, hmmm. I'll say I would love to find the Earl Thomas of this draft, love it when receivers are AWARE of a big hit.

liked Delmas a lot coming out of college....hasnt quite been what I expected but I have no doubt he is better than Clemons.....no doubt

Yeah Delmas is such a playmaker. He has a total of 6 interceptions in 5 full seasons. He is not much better than Clemons

and half of those 6 were last season so why not sign him when he is at his best?

I dont like it, if Delmas can stay healthy then maybe. But if we sign Delmas, be prepared to be ready for Jimmy Wilson at safety when Delmas is hurt. Clemons is by no means better, but we would not be having a discussion about if he is gonna play or let alone practice. As a safety, you have to practice, you have to have that communication with the secondary. I would rather us go for a dark horse like Antoine Bethea, but thats just me.

His potential market value: Decent. Delmas would have a much higher value if not for his knees, which will be a concern for any team that does choose to sign him. He was limited to one practice a week because of his ailing knees and the condition doesn't appear to be one that will magically become better over time considering he plays football. But he was available for every game, which was a major factor in him becoming potentially a priority free agent for teams. There appears to at least be some interest in him since he has visited with clubs since being released by Detroit last month.

However, Delmas is known for being more of a risk-taker than Clemons in coverage. In Detroit, Delmas allowed 313 yards and four touchdowns in coverage this past season. By comparison, Clemons only conceded 127 yards and two touchdowns. Although the two had different roles on different defenses, Clemons is thought to be more reliable in center field. Still, the drop off in coverage isn’t significant enough to scare the Dolphins away, especially considering Delmas would likely compensate by producing more interceptions than Clemons. As a more capable defender in run support, Delmas could also be more of an interchangeable safety with Jones.
If the argument was purely a matter of on-field performance, Delmas would be a solid addition to Miami’s secondary. There’s no guarantee that he would emerge as an upgrade over Clemons, but he possesses the potential to become just that.

I wish they'd just bring Clemons back. He's gotten better every year he'd played. He can't be asking more than 3-4 mil a season. Had he held onto some of those picks he'd be a top safety in the league. He doesn't give up big plays and was always in a position to make a play on the ball. Switch Delmas out for Clemons and Antonio brown Is waving bye bye to the dolphins victory in that steelers game.

If people went back and looked at games, you would find Clemmons making more plays at LOS and thumping. But not many remember because thats not what he is remembered for.

Not liking Delmas move. First strike on Hickey IMO if he signs this guy.

Clemmons knows this defense besides. Its a risk on waiting for Delmas to get the communication and set-up.

I am a Delmas fan. really like the guy when he is healthy, but he hasn't been lately. if we sign him we need sign competition at the free safety, because i am not comfortable with idea of Jimmy Wilson starting 6+ games at FS in 2014.

Yay 2 "thumpers" that get beat often... Look for some deep tds if this happens.
