Dolphins would have easily made the playoffs if..

Basically, what you're saying is we fire the GM, hire a coach who has as many playoff wins with a ProBowl QB as our current coach has with a rookie QB, and keep the team intact that started the season 0-7, we'd have been playoff bound last year? I'm not sure about that.

McCoy won the first round of the playoffs and lost to the Broncos.

I dunno. Seems to me that if fire Ireland is #1 then keep a bunch of guys that Ireland brought in and hire the coach that Ireland wanted shouldn't make up the rest of the list.

Not criticizing the thread...it's actually a fun idea I guess. But any other team ahead of us could counter our "if" with an "if" of their own to stay ahead of us. Bottom line is most games in the NFL come down to a few plays and better teams make them more often than the Dolphins. We had 16 chances like every other team but we were not one of the teams that were good enough to get into the playoffs. FG's, miss a tackle, make a bad throw or miss a catch, block poorly, bully team mates to bring the worst out of them instead of the best, allow a goon to push you around instead of standing up to him...we can pick any reason but good teams made more positive plays or less negatives, however we want to explain it.
I see it this way...NOT GOOD enough playing to get into post season, so we didn't get in. Enough talent? Sure, but few teams have too little talent to make it in. We just made too many mistakes and didn't have the discipline to avoid them often enough to be a consistent team.

So I guess I'm not criticizing the thread but I am criticizing the team and their piss poor attitude and work ethic as a whole.

Letting Reggie Bush walk to roll with Lamar Miller was one of the dumbest moves this franchise has ever made. And that's saying a lot.

I can understand going with a younger, cheaper option, but Bush signed for peanuts and was willing to give the Dolphins a discount on top of that because apparently he liked it down here.

Dumb.

I could have sworn the Chargers beat the Bengals.......

Reggie was on the "leadership council." I think that was the main reason, not that we were SO confident in Miller. I wonder if Philbin regrets his drastic stance against those players?

Well, Bess and Dansby were straight turds. Dansby was a solid player but remember 2011? When he showed up 40 pounds overweight? Bess is out of the league right now.

But yeah, if that's why we moved on, that was pretty lousy.

Reggie, and Jake were on that too weren't they? I think the thing that pisses me off the most is Brandon Marshall. He's one of the best 5 WR's in the league and is getting paid the #7 contract for a WR. Meanwhile, Mike Wallace is around the 20-30th best WR in the league and is getting paid the #4 contract for a WR.....

I just don't see any other reason. Reggie worked as hard or harder than any other player (Philbin had to like). He was a model citizen off the field. Sure he danced a bit, but he produced as well.

It's hard to believe that they thought so highly of Miller. That would be like letting Wake go before you knew what you had in Vernon.

It was the combo of Ireland being married to his pick AND Philbin sending a message to the leadership guys.

As for Davone Bess, I don't know what happened but it seems he had some sort of mental break or something (which led to his exit from the league), possibly triggered by getting traded.

I think Joe was upset with Reggie's fumbling, but then why the **** would you still keep Daniel Thomas around? Thomas fumbles too, and he's not nearly as good of a back.

Just silly stuff. Though to be fair, Mike Sherman was such a dunce that he couldn't figure out how to use the guy, anyway.

I think Reggie has fumbles 5 times each season in 2011, 2012, 2013 but on average RB's lose fumbles ~50% of the time. I think having Reggie and a better running game would be worth the trade off of more balance and less Tannehill INT's. Turnovers are everything but RB fumbles are overblown IMO. Unless you are a bad player like Daniel Thomas and have fumbling problems.
