Don Imus on Adam Jones: 'What Color Is He?'

I'm sure it wouldn't be hard to find demeaning words about females used in music. If you searched hard enough you could probably find derogatory comments made about every race in music or on the radio. I just think society needs to grow a pair and quit being soo sensitive to everything that's going on. If people don't like what a guy says then don't listen. It's died down but people used to post things about they hated a certain writer or guy on the radio. Though they obviously were reading or listening to them. My question is to why? If you hate what they're saying and they're "idiots," why are you listening?

Good point, I think you'll find more offensive words in rap music then any other form of music that involve women. I don't see Sharpton of Jackson taking a stand on that or the female Rutgers basketball team asking for the nation to pause while they get a big fat apology for the offensive treatment of women in those songs. Funny how if white people make an offensive blurb, it's the most horrific thing in the world. But Murder, drugs, the use of the word Hoe, *****, slut, skank or whatever slang they use is no big deal when anyone but the white race is involved. Does anyone not see that it's no longer the black race that's not allowed to speak or do, it's now the white race that's scrutinized for everything they do and say.

Listen, I have no problem with this country treating everyone the same, I have no problem working, living, eating, drinking along side any race or nationality in the world. I'm fine with that, but if you're going to make the white race out to be scum and worthless because of the things they say and do, then be consistent for everyone. Call out the rappers that treat women as possession's and the drugs sellers and users and murders as worse people then those that make derogatory statements on the radio.

Lets be honest, things have changed, it's now OK to call out White people for everything they do (race related), but lets just ignore all the other offensive crap cause White people aren't the ones doing it. How anyone can look at things today and say Blacks are the less fortunate, that's just not true anymore.

When you think of night clubs? Perhaps you and Imus should get together and go to a club....it would do wonders to relieve the ignorance.

I've been to nightclubs in D.C. before. How can what I say be ignorant when it's what I saw with my own two eyes?

I think that somethings are glorified through people who've got a voice. Though they choose to talk about guns, drugs, and violence. It's easy to target rap but you can hear drug references in every music form. Though I say give them free speech. Society has to decide whether they want to help promote these things. Just like society has the right to decide whether they want to listen to Imus.

In terms of what certain groups of society are allowed to say. I think the white male gets scrutinized the most. Racism does exist but I disagree with groups trying to play the victim and then only targeting the white male. Racist things aren't socially accepted by society though it's funny that sexist things are.

Im sure alot of white americans go to nightclubs and rap is probably not high up on the most played list of most night clubs. All races get into trouble with the law.

Sure whites go to nightclubs too. I never denied that. And yes, different music is played. Rap, trance, dance music, reggae.

All races get into trouble with the law indeed man.

All this being said, what Imus said about Jones was dumb. If he did feel that way then he should've kept it to himself.

Stereotypes run wild in situations like this and I'm guilty of it too. When I think of a nightclub that NFL players go to, I imagine it being different then the clubs us regular folk go to.

With advocates like Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton, I don't know how you disagree. Do you ever see them call their own race out for causing their own problems? No, but the second someone who's white happens to say anything close to a racist comment and they're all over it. I heard what Imus said and in a way it could be construed as racist, but at the same time it's an accurate statement. Sorry it offends some, but it's accurate.

Look at the number of black football players in the NFL involved with some sort of trouble with the law and look how many whites are in trouble with the law. He may have chosen the wrong words to express a fact. Nonetheless it doesn't change the fact the the overwhelming majority of men involved with the law in the NFL happen to be black. That's fact, not a bias racist opinion. At what point does the Black race step up and clear their own issues up before they look to point fingers at everyone else for everyone else's issues?

I don't think it's a problem within the race. Rather than their are idiots in all walks of life. Look at the steroid issue in MLB. It covered every race. Theo Fleury, Mcsorley, Dany Heatley, Bertuzzi in the NHL. There are idiots in all walks of life. Rather than say it's dictated because of there race. I'd just say they're not bright individuals. Once is a mistake but 7 times is a criminal. I don't think that the criminal acts of guys in the NFL dictate the majority of the players. Though it gets alot more publicity than what a guy like Warrick Dunn does.

That's true man. Some will still find it racist but that's just how it is. There are plenty of white scumbags out there as there as asians, hispanics, etc..

Isn't half the jail population in the country black even though blacks only make up 30-something % of the US population? (Don't kill me for distorting the numbers, I'm totally guessing based on what I've read in the past)

Well for one thing you choose the NHL to bring up a point about whites in trouble with the law, but isn't 99.9% of the NHL white! So to be realistic you'll find the majority of whites in trouble with the law in that sport cause it's basically all white.

However, you can find more black football players in trouble with the law on one football team(Cincy) then you can find in the entire NHL. btw Danny Heatly got drunk one night had a car accident and his friend and fellow NHL player was killed, I know of no other trouble that guy has been in since that accident.

The point is not, "yeah, you can find trouble makers in every sport and in every race", the point is the OVERWHELMING number of players in the NFL in trouble with the law. It's not one or two White players and one or two Black players and one or two Hispanic players, it's BY FAR BLACK. That's a fact not a racist comment or a bias.

My point is, here you are making millions of dollars in a position to do and represent your race with dignity, respect and to be a roll model for the youth of your race and what do they do with it? They choose to find trouble with the Law! How frikin hard is it to do the right things? I do them every day, I've been in trouble with the Law once in my life and I'm no spring chicken. The black race needs to fix their own problems before they go looking to be the victim when someone says a word that hurts their feelings. Reality check, the race needs to earn the respect for themselves before the expect it from others.

Don't think Ive read a more "divisive" post.Isn't most of the NFL black? The soap box is huge today isn't it? Stick to the script though..

Are we defending Imus' comment or are we against the entire black race and rap music because of what IMUS said?

IMO,nobody would have even cared what the man said had the media not blown it out of proportion like it usually does.

Thats the great thing about most of these ignorant, racist morons. Try as they might, in the end they can't hide the fact that its all about the colour of the skin.

Well it is about the color of skin b/c that's what Imus was talking about. As to who you're specifically speaking towards I don't know.
