Donald Driver a Dolphin rumor??

I don't know about trading for him being he's 37, but as a free agent...I'm fine with it.

is he the piece that wins us the superbowl this year? next year? how about the year after? no?then why retard the growth of our young WRs or risk exposing a promising guy to the practice squad because we used up one of our few WR spots on a old man?

no no no. Lets do what Sparano did sign old over priced veterans from his old team. Philbin is smarter than this.

Wouldn't hurt to have a veteran like him as a role model. Don't buy the argument he will stunt growth of younger WR's on the team. They will learn from him.

I don't see it as retarding the growth of the younger receivers. Driver would know the system very well and might be able to help the younger guys out a good bit. Either way, it is a win / win to me.

Do you remember what Jason Ferguson did for Paul Solai. The first 2 years in Miami, Solai was called a bust by many on this board..

Driver would be a great mentor to the young receivers..

I think if they bring in Driver it won't be with the illusion Driver will put Miami over the top it will be to provide leadership for our young WRs.

If Driver does end up in Miami it tells me Philbin likes the way he mentally prepares, watches film, practices, runs routes, etc...all the little stuff a young group of WRs needs to see and be around in a veteran player.

If he's cheap enough i say absolutely, look at how young our receivers are, he would be a great mentor for this offense.

Except young wide receivers need reps, as in balls thrown at them, more than they need examples in order to get better. Defensive tackles get reps every snap.

Of course if the price is right a wily ol veteran like Driver would be fine if he can still contribute. The Dolphins need to come out of the gate swinging, not sputtering on offense.

Really? How do you know?

You're telling me that a hard working receiver that has had success at the NFL level with preparation, determination, and maturity will have absolutely no effect on the development of a rookie? That this rookie is going to just make that transition seamlessly and would benefit nothing from a veteran? lol
