Donald Driver a Dolphin rumor??

Wouldn't hurt to have a veteran like him as a role model. Don't buy the argument he will stunt growth of younger WR's on the team. They will learn from him.

Davone Bess is a veteran now that can be a role model.......one's enough.

Nothing, Favre hated Rodgers and Montana hated Young, like you said mentorship is overrated

It always makes me laugh when i hear or read someone say that one player is going to help another player take his job. 95% of all players care more about their own starting position then helping someone take that away from them. As in, ME is more important then TEAM.

Can you see Dan Marino ever helping another QB? On any team?

imo i agree 100 % , if the wrs we have on our roster are better than driver , then let them play but if the 37 year old driver beats them out then so be it , and with the ones he dont beat out he can help develope them into better route runners and can help make them better players , so imo driver isnt taking anything away from the young recivers if the young recivers let driver beat them out then so be it , let driver play a year and help what recivers that makes the team .

Are you saying we should also pay him as a player coach?

I know we like to think that the world is warm and fuzzy and 37 year old veterans just love to help out 24 year old looking to bump them off the roster but it just not happen.

Just think where you work if your boss asked you to train the younger, cheaper guy that will be replacing you as soon as he is up to speed on doing your job. What would you think about it?

Marino always seemed to get on very well with his back-ups. Who was that guy that JJ had as his back-up?

He said Dan helped him out a lot when he left here. They were good friends.

Then again, none of them were drafted very high so they were not exactly any kind of threat.

I think as professional atheletes they learn just by watching what the more experienced guys are doing. If they need to have someone hold their hand then they probably aren't going to be any good anyway.

I'll pass on Driver. We have a lot of young receives who are all long term projects, and having Driver on the roster means one of them gets cut. I'd rather let the coaches do the mentoring.

Well at least one of the young WRs won't learn anything from him because he'll replace that guy... I don't see the value in adding a guy who is that close to the end of his career, even tho he knows the O and is familiar with the system in lieu of keeping a kid that might just develop into a DD at some point. He won't be of any value except as a WR, likely in packages unless NONE of our young guys develop and he can't/woin't play STs...??

The only thing is, Philbin will have a better idea of exactly how close he is to being done and IF the price is right it could be a move they think about. But does anyone really think he's a guy that would make that much of a difference for us for a rental of a season ?

AS THEY SAY you cant play forever and if driver so happen to come here he knows that he only has a couple of years left to play the game and driver has done alot in his very talented career and he knows he isnt going to play forever , driver isnt a ME player and will give our young guys all the help he can while in his short time left .

If we had any intentions of signing Driver, we would have done so already. Unless our whole WR corps gets the plaque, I dont see us signing anyone else. We too many WR's on the roster as it is.

I think people are looking at this the wrong way. If Driver comes in, its not to teach the young wideouts. There are coaches for that. What bringing in Driver does is give the team another savvy proven reliable guy to catch the ball. If Tannehill is going to play at all this year, he is going to need as many of those guys as possible. We only have two right now. That's a tough position to throw a rookie quarterback into.

He's a good guy who has always had a good attitude. He obviously wouldn't be signed to be a game breaker, he would be effective as a teacher. So yeah, I'm in.
