Donald Lee is a Lock

I honestly do feel that Donald Lee has a better chance of making the team (for most of the reasons that you mentioned) than some people give him credit for here, but I personally wouldn't consider him a LOCK. The only true LOCKS in my honest opinion would have to be Randy McMichael (obvious reasons) and Ed Perry (for his long snapping abilities). I think Lorenzo Diamond is going to give Lee a tough competition which is something you definitely want to see in position battles. I really like Alex Holmes and have been rooting for him, but I honestly feel that he will end up on the Practice Squad or possibly even Jason Rader who has been very impressive this preseason thus far.

i like Lee, but also fear he won't stick.

He is a great blocker, easily the best on the team, and one of the best in the NFL.

Lee also bailed us out of trouble in 2003 when we played the titans (anyone remember that game?)

Of course i always "Remember the titans"

yea hes a lock of hair that is going to be cut

Never assume. He's the only decent blocking TE. Diamond needs grooming. Chances are they keep 3 TE's + Perry and keep 1 FB. Probably keep a FB on the practice squad. That way they can buy a year of development on Diamond as an H-back.

Also it makes a good reason for keeping Sammy Morris as he can backup the FB spot.

Where oh where is Draper when you need him?
He could do everything.

McMike has had more drops than Lee has. And Lee won't be badgering us for a Tony G-sized contract.

I like the depth chart set up as someone else said in another thread...
1)McMike
2)Diamond
3)Lee

why can it not be this way? Rader goes to practice squad.

I don't think will carry 4 TE's.

1) McMike
2) Diamond
3) Perry

Perry's not a TE though. He may be listed as one but he's strictly a long snapper/special teams guy.

I don't see the team keeping 2 FB's which means on offense they can keep an extra spot somewhere. TE just makes sense.

I agree with your post, but just wanted to point out that other than: not being able to catch, the occasional drive killing penalties, and an extreme case of fumble-itis when he gets hit hard, Donald Lee is really a good blocking tight end. We should keep him (not being sarcastic ).

As long as we don't throw him a pass, he is fine! He is the TE version of Konrad! Good block, hands of stone!

With the reasons you give for keeping Lee on the team.....good blocker....

we might as well just put an extra offensive lineman out there as the 2nd TE, I'm sure that they can't catch any worse than than Lee, and certainly couldn't fumble any more when they do catch it.

McIntosh for #2 TE!!!!!!!!

Maybe we put Lee at LT if he's such a great blocker, because catching IS a requiremnet for a TE and it's a talent that Lee has proven he does not possess!!

I agree. Sammy Morris will be the backup fullback technically so we will keep perry and three te's. I believe McMike, lee and Diamond all make the roster.

One thing i can say for Lee other than he can block, is he gets wide open a lot. If he can improve his concentration he would be a great threat. Last time i checked ole Randy drops a lot of balls too and can't block worth a damn.........

well you are wrong. Miami runs a lot of two tight end sets. Why would they keep only two tight ends?
