Don't get rid of our kicker!

Sturgis is as bad it worse than carpenter was his last couple years here

Nor should we wait to find out. Just sign a kicker who has historically been consistent.

I would figure a great kicker with history of being consistent would likely already be on a roster. I figured any kicker unemployed at this time of the year must have some flaws of question marks.

Carpenter's misses inside 50 yards: 2 in 2012, 3 in 20111 and 7 in 2010.

You'd be 100 percent correct, however I didn't say great kicker, I said consistent, so... I'm sure There are veteran kickers who are consistent, not great, but consistent, which equates to better Than Sturgis

Sturgis went through a confidence lapse last year, but he is one of the most skilled kickers in the league. I'll support whatever move the team feels it needs to make in this regard, but I'm not gonna act like Sturgis didn't blow everyone away last year in his preseason and first couple of games, so if the team thinks he has his confidence, cool. People were ready to kick Carpenter out the door last year too, and that move worked out great for us, as he had a fantastic rebound season including nailing a game winner against us.

Most underrated player we have. One of only a few on the team who have a chance to be among the best at their position.

You've got to be a 40 percenter to believe there's any valid reason to get rid of Sturgis.

Don't be a short term dunce.

Wasn't Sturgis last in the league in FG %? That's horrible. Don't want him back. Let's try the kid from Hogwarts this year. You can't get any worse, can you?

He finished 29th in fg % just ahead of Bullock (Titans), Hartley (Saints) and Janakowski (Raiders). Not good for sure, but as I said earlier he was 23-of-27 inside the 50 with one of those misses being a blocked kick that never had a chance because of the rush and another coming on a 46 yard kick off the upright in windy Foxboro. It would help if he doesn't tie for the league league in 50+ yard attempts again this year and his 3-of-7 from those long range kicks should improve once his groin is healed. Sturgis was 2-for-2 on 50 yard kicks prior to hurting the groin and 1 of 5 after he injured it.

Also remember it was in October last year that he originally hurt his groin, prior to the injury he was 10-for 10. If you look at the months he was healthy ( September, November and December) he was 20 of 23.

I say lets see where he's at after preseason and if he's not healthy put him on IR and start the season with Potter. However, I have no doubt Sturgis will be a solid kicker in the NFL once he's healthy.

IR him and go with the wizard prodigy for a bit, groin injuries tend to linger a long time.

I don't really want to give up in Sturges, but we really can't deny how accurate and on the money Potter has been. This is a good idea, while Sturges is on IR, evaluate Potter further in big games, if he continues to look as good as he has, then I am afraid Sturges loses his position.

Sturges does have an awesome leg, and being able to make a FG as far as 60yrds or more is a great thing to have, but even more important is consistency, and right now, Sturges is lacking in that area.

Potter reminds me of that guy we had in preseason last year who boomed kicks everywhere and nailed massive FG's with precision like they were extra points. Who was that guy?

Oh yeah, Sturgis.

Exactly why I want to see this kid, and how he looks in battle, but you make a very good point.

If he can't kick the ball then he isn't a kicker anymore he's a warm body. According to many around here we have enough of those already so no kicky no ticky.

IF you love the man that much PUP is his ass until he is better.
