Dorian and Hurricane Preperation

One of my friends from high school works for the national weather service. They said that while the path is projected to keep it from making landfall, it is still no guarantee and to continue to monitor...

They put up this image, although super basic, to give an understanding of how they determine tracks...though

Mass returns gonna start happening at these store. All those overpriced portable chargers are going back as we speak lol

Almost have to worry about Dorian looping back.....

That forecast track is still on the careful side. Most models have Dorian turn faster/earlier but a couple of forecast models and some ensemble members still show a little later turn so the NHC while shifting it further East was not as aggressive.

Dorian is now pretty much exactly East of West Palm Beach (approx 400 miles) and the winds have increased to 150mph. Eye is 15 miles in diameter.
Dorian is still a small and tight Hurricane with tropical storm force winds up to 50 miles out and hurricane force winds 25 miles out. And that won't change too much during the forecast period.

Everything south of Boynton Beach (on the East side of Florida) is now outside the cone.

I think our resident Bahamanian @tylerdolphin is on Spanish Wells which should be far enough south of Dorian. I am not sure about @Bahamafin and @BahamaFinFan78. Mabe they can check in with us.

It's nice to be out of the cone of death for the first time.

I'd still be super cautious, especially with some models (GFS for example) beginning to trend a bit more South.

Remember where Irma was at this stage two years ago....

Keep the shutters up/put your shutters on.

For anyone in central Florida and especially for the Carolinas, now is the time to get ready.

Hope everyone finds safety!

I see the winds are up to 150 mph but the good news is that it seems to be staying off the coast which is great for us here in Kissimmee. Still, everyone needs to be careful cause it can always move.

When Hurricane Sandy hit up north, Home Depot & Lowe's were telling people absolutely no returns on generators being purchased during the power outages/storm damage. Don't know if they truly enforced that or if anyone was successful afterwards with a return when all calmed down but it supposedly was a corporate rule that came down (i.e; not set by each individual store/management). Never checked but there's probably language in their return policies that says they can refuse returns in some cases.

Already got Hurricane fatigue from watching this storm and it's getting even slower.
Live in N Broward got cat 5 windows but there new and never been thru storm, Hurricane shutters still in the garage.
Storm being as powerful as it is doesn't start to move north I'll be forced to put them up - almost half a day and a pain in the

Winds now 175 MPH pressure 922 mb

Storm is as powerful as Andrew now, Andrew leveled parts of Miami
