Draft Future: Miami?

I think they need to move the draft to different cities...why should NY have it every year?

Because that is where the NFL headquarters is located! :shakeno: It's easy access for ESPN which isn't far away as well.

Negative much MikeO? Jesus...

realistic! You can move the NFL Draft around. But don't give me some BS about it bringing money to the city and helping tourism. People aren't going to travel to watch the NFL Draft. Sorry, not gonna happen. And it isn't the Super Bowl or Final Four where it will mean an economic boom for the city that has it.

Each team sending 2 or 3 guys to sit at a table and run cards to a stage along with an ESPN crew isn't going to mean big $$$$$$$$$ for a city. Sorry, its just reality.

Move it around? It's a friggin draft! There is nothing to do or see. It isn't like there are events and stuff going on for the kids. This isn't the Super Bowl. It's a place where agents go and try and backstab each other while teams talk on the phone for 2 days straight. They could take away the fans and hold it in a hotel conference room and at the end of the day it is still just a draft and would anybody notice.

I dont' see how shopping it around to cities is going to bring or add anything to the NFL or the city. This notion that people will flock to the draft to sit indoors and just well, sit. And wait for an announcement every 15 minutes is mind blowing to be honest.

The only reason people go to the NBA draft is because its over in like 2 hours or so and the picks are fast and furious. The NFL draft is 2 days long and moves so slow and its just down time. People in cities like SD or Miami aren't going to go to this thing and spend a day like they will in NY or another die-hard football city like say Philly or Cleveland. You can hardly get the people in SD or Miami to show up for games, you think they will show up for a draft?

Just keep it in NY cause you know it works there and there are no real problems. Or go back to Philly where it started and be done with it.
Keep it in NY so I can keep attending every year! :D

By the way you do realize that the only reason the NFL is even considering moving the draft is because Madison Square Garden was so outspoken against the Jets new stadium. They (MSG) didnt want the competition from a venue standpoint , MSG being the main sports/convention/concert attraction in terms of prestige in NYC (Javits Center is larger but less of a draw b/c of location). Im pretty sure that if and when the Jets work out something as far as getting a new stadium (either sharing with NYGs new stadium or their own) this chatter will die down.

Of course Wayne wants the draft in Miami. It's all apart of his master plan to take over the NFL.

You forgot to mention that its his evil master plan, Dont be surprised if he holds Ronnie Ransom for 100 Billion dollars. Oh yeah and he would change his name to Dr. Evil.

I would like the draft to come down here.

leave it in NYC ...who really wants to see Mel K Jr in person??

Come on now.....the chance to crack jokes about his hair from 20-30 feet away. That'd be too much fun :)

well, you can be sure it won't be coming to Wilmington so rest easy. I would go in a heartbeat, I've always hated those fans who had the opportunity to go and root! It would be cool to become one.

Wow! That has to be the most politically correct response I've ever heard. Except for maybe "your baby is so cute"

Id drive the three hours to Miami to be at the draft live.

Heck, I was "on call" during the last draft and traded with a guy so I could sit at home for hours on end and watch the selections.

Get some seats, food, beer a "Jumbotron" and count me in.

Instead of inviting only the "top five" or so picks, they could invite most of the day one picks.

If 60-90 of the top college football players in the country were showing up at the draft, people would go.

They could have "autograph sessions" at the draft for fans to attend. That would encourage people.

They could hand out "mock draft" forms with each ticket for an "accuracy of selection contest".

Have the winner get a new car as the prize.

I think Wayne owns "Autoway" right?

Those are just Ideas off the top of my head. There is all kinds of thing they could do to make it enticing to football fans.
