Draft Picks

That's true, but the difference between a rookie and say Spriggs would be????

I think there are a few misconceptions here. This is said to be one of the deepest WR crops in the history of the draft. If we dont nab an OL in the first round, which his our biggest need, then I would be shocked if we dont draft a WR to compliment CC.

As for QB's, Mel Kiper has gone on record saying that this is one of the WORST senior classes in recent memory. After Leftwich, there are no sure fire-first rounders here. If some of the underclassmen come out, then this class may improve.

As for pther positions, I wouldnt take a safety in the first round - there are tons of good safeties available in FA every year. They can even be had for bargain basement prices (look at Brock marion this year).

OLB should also NOT be a top priority, since they are not on the field almost 50% of the time in our current defensive scheme. Its simply not worth it. Even Lavar Arringtom would be marginalized in Bates Defensive setup.

I could see us drafting a top flight DT if one drops to us, since Bowens is approaching 30 years of age and is getting up there in years.

Ultimately, if Im Rick Spielman (oh how i wish..), I look for an offensive linemen (the best available at any of the positions), or look at one of the WR's.

I gotta give Clumped props. He knows our needs better than most fin fans! From a rival's point of view, he is dead on right.

Is this the same Melonhead Kiper Jr. that I hear has never played a down of football in his life?

Or am I mistaken?

You're crazy if you think what a DT with marginal stats is doing offsets what a RB who will go over 1000 yds with 10 TD's.

Losing Walker, Bromell, Mixon will give us 3 picks for sure.

Clump, man, come out of the closet! Being a dolphin fan -even now- is a good thing.....

Still say no to a qb. Start with a lineman in round one. Doesn't matter the position, need best available. A second top flight WR would be nice but coupled with being a dicey proposition (so many top WR's being head cases), WR is a spot where we are able to take a chance on a later pick project. We need value in the top rounds. Pick two HAS to be an OLB. Not just an "athlete", but a real football orientated, instinctual athlete. I agree with Superfosa that OLB has been, and with band members Greenwood and Rogers as opening acts, will continue to be underused. If we draft a stud, though, maybe we change that a bit which begins to tighten up what has become an EXTREMELY soft middle to our D. The rest of the picks should aim for more OL and DL

C'mon, Clump, we can all feel the vibe! Bust the big move and join us in finfandom. I wanna say you'd be an asset to the cause, but the fact is that with your input here you already are.

(Well, some a the time, anyway.;))

What about the loss of Lamar Smith, we didn't want him but he was still lost in FA, and is having a pretty good year. If he goes over 1000 yards he will bring us a 5th round choice.

My ideal draft as of right now...

#1 Brett Williams Sr. OT Fla. St. (this guy is a stud OT)
#2 NEW ORLEANS PICK
#3 Lee Stevens Sr. WR WISC(Something tells me Lee is slipping down to 3rd round), If not Tahman Garner Sr. WR Fla. St or Maurice Brown Jr. WR Iowa
#4 Brad Banks QB Iowa- some how is still there for us? I'm pushing because right now he is probably a early 3rd round pick and can move up higher but if some how slips to us ..:D ...If not DE Alonzo Jackson(He should be there) ..
#5 Highest rated DT still on the board...
#6 Highest rated LB still on the board..
#7 Best player left...
