Draft Value Chart & Phins Trade Talk

How come the Draft Trade Value Chart didn't apply last year when we moved up to the 3rd spot in the deal with Oakland? It looks like it missed the mark by miles. When does it apply and when doesn't it? The fact that Oakland was prepared to make a lesser deal, means it has to depend on the circumstances of any moment.

I find the trade value chart has become a outdated system. Teams are willing to trade up a lot more now because the guys aren't getting ridiculous contracts like before.

Like you said i think its going to be more and more about what a team can get instead of a universal trade value.

I would stay put for BPA. I would actually pick an ILB or if for some reason Ebron is there then I would go with him. with first pick and then O lineman the next two. We just need to beef up our run defense and middle of the field coverage. Man I hate having so many holes to fill... or wait, I actually love filling holes, but not in this situation!!!

The chart is outdated, but it's still the only thing out there to use as a base guideline. Many things have changed since JJ created it and now is the first year that players drafted in round one can have the 5th year option added from the teams. This year the draft has 10-12 elite type talents coming out of college and is very deep with second tier talent. Players that rank 13-180 are very close in talent level, so not a lot of difference IMO between a player I could get at 18 and a player I could get at 150.

What this means is this year is a buyers’ market and team won’t have to give up as much to move up.

because its outdated, jimmy johnson invented this...but there has been talk that this chart is useless by now, dolphins raiders trade the perfect example

The Saints Rumor is exactly what Miami needs to be looking to do. At 27 we can take Moses or Kouandjio or Xu. Then take Borland and Moncrief, Bryant, or Landry in the 2nd.

Would love to trade for that with the Saints.

I wouldn't say it's outdated, the raiders were desperately trying to get out of 3, and we offered them the most, it's that simple. Everyone was suprised by the value we got

1. Last year's draft was pathetic compared to this years. Taylor Lewan would have been the #1 pick
2. Oakland was going to take DJ Hayden all along anyways.

It applies depending on how much teams want to trade up. Oakland struggled to find a trade partner because beyond the two tackles the rest of the top players were rated fairly even among teams. It was a weak draft. Jake Matthews is rated higher than Lane Johnson was last year so teams would want to move possibly. We gave up so little because no team was giving up value for that pick. No player intrigued any team enough to move up and pay more than we did. Oakland would have traded for more if they could have got a better offer, Hayden was their pick no matter what.

If we trade with the Saints for the 27th pick then you KNOW they are not bluffing about liking Cyrus and Moses. One of those 2 will be the pick for sure.

And ending up with another 2nd rounder.. That's basically the best scenario possible. This draft is deep. It'd be like having 3 mid first rounders.

The rookie cap had demolished the draft chart. Of course without a clear cut number 1 overall the value goes in lower
