Drew Brees

Now you did it! You have me sticking up for AJ!

Brees played under one of the better offensive lines last year. AJ the worst along with the Giants.

The past two years Brees played under a O-line that made the Fins line of 2005 look good!

hehehe stickin up for AJ :) What would you consider a successful year stat wise for AJ, in the realm of reality?

Exactly, Charger fan was ready to run Brees out of town before last year. You're right, improve the O-Line and get him a couple of receivers to go with LT and bingo, they're 12-4...

Like i've been saying, get Feeley a productive 3rd receiver to go with Chambers, Booker, and McMichael and I think Feeley will then at the very least have no excuses as long as the offensive line does improve like we believe it should. Then we can talk about change if it's necessary!

Too bad AJ's not in a contract year :)

alright this is wayyy to early to be talkin' about next season, here is what is happening with brees. He was resigned to a large one year deal because the chargers had the cap room, he is going to be the starter going into camp and rivers is going to have to look amazing to become the starter. The whole reason that SD only got him on a 1 year deal is to see if he's a one year wonder. So next season if he plays good they will work out a long term deal, if he plays like he did last year there is not a snowball's chance in hell they let him go, and try and trade Rivers. If he does bad, they bench him and play Rivers. Ten they let him go in free agency and start Rivers next season. No matter what happens, they will not let the good one get away. Marty and the GM are too smart for that. This should not even be an issue, no team will end up with a good deal out of this beside SD.

LOL.. Good Point..

In a way though, he kind of is. He knows that he's really not going to get any chances past this year. He's under Nick's microscope, Nick even said, that he would have Drafted Alex Smith had he been there, so A.J. knows if he doesn't deliver this year, he's pretty much finished. So you have a great point, but I think in a way, he's kind of in the same situation..

If he does well, SD will probably put the tag on him, that would be the only thing holding him up from signing with any team. But, i'm sure Brees wouldn't like that, he would gain some serious cash as a free agent.

lol, although I believe AJ has a large roster bonus due after the season though so if he doesn't play well chances are he gets cut

20 TD's 10 ints 8 plus wins.

I really don't think he can do, but as I said, I'm willing to see what he can do with a new offense and a RB.

I can live with that, if he can at least match or exceed Harrington's performance/stats last year i'd consider that a step forward.

We HAVE to be first in line for whichever of the 2 between Rivers or Brees we can get. The answer at QB is NOT on this football team yet and we are 6-10 next year because of it. Until we have a true franchise QB, NOT a retread career 2nd or 3rd stringer like feeley or davey, we will go nowhere no matter how many defensive linemen we sign.

Get a QB. Whatever It Takes.

I agree with you Gator, I'd think our offense would benefit from an accurate passer like Brees (65%) last year. I don't think Saban wants to wait 2 years to groom a qb, so maybe he does have a plan for a good FA quarterback next year.

Let's wait until next year to worry about it. I only care about this year right now.

AMEN to that!!!

The saying is "carpe diem", not "wait till next year." If a team has the attitude that they can't win this year, they won't. But if they do, anything is possible - at a minimum they could play over their heads and be in playoff contention in December (i.e. 2004 Cards). Then we could at least have an exciting FULL year.
