Drew Rosenhaus confirms Richard Marshall is challenging Davis for his spot at CB

Its a message from philbin to vontae to step up or lose your starting position. I aint going to lie though, i am dissappointed. Vontae is my favorite player on the dolphins and this right here just doesnt sit well with me. i am glad sean smith is gettin better and all but vontae is suppose to be our best player on defense and things just dont seem that way right now. hopefully, this is just a motivation ploy by philbin, if it is, i love it.

sheeit.....if Rosenhaus said it, it MUST be true! that greaseball never lies about anything

Philbin doesn't send messages. The player that shows consistent, professional effort will start. He's not looking for a guy that shows up one play, then disappears for the next three. He needs you there everytime.

Philbin will not play games like a one Tony Sparano, or Dave Wannstedt.

If Marshall is one of the best DBs on the team he should start but you dont sit the guy who has been your best DB since he got here. The best 11 should start on each side of the ball and between Marshall, Jones, Smith, and who ever the other saftey is I will bet a million Davis will be in the starting 11.

We are paying marshall almost twice the salary of davis 3.7M to 2M.
I don't think that is too far fetched of an idea. vontae was horrible to start the season last year. We can't have those lapses again.
And Philbin had nothing to do with drafting Davis.

If you dont think davis is in trouble then your in denial. The biggest knock on him coming out of college was that he was not consistent enough and his coaches had to constantly try and motivate him and keep him focused. Dude has elite talent but it doesn't show all the time, one play he looks elite and the next play he looks mediocre. The light has seem to gone on for sean smith he lost 25lbs and cut his dreads and is focused, from everything I read coming out of camp he looks really good.

If Smith lost 25lbs it must have been his hair where did he get 25lbs to lose and if he could not bring down a ball carrier when he was 25lbs heavier he is really in trouble now.

Smith, who lost 24 pounds this offseason, cut his dreadlocks, largely to reshape the way he presents himself. “It’s all about how you’re perceived on and off the field. I want a more professional, mature approach. The coaches like it.”

For the 25th pick in the draft Davis has underachieved. He has very similar stats to Jason Allen who was picked 16th and was sent packing.

Davis like Allen is just to inconsistent right now and needs to step it up.

Vontea has all the talent in the world, but his .10 cent head kills him!

lord knows I love Vontae's talent....but everytime I see Vontae, I can't help but think we could have had Clay Matthews:unsure:

If Davis was that bad how would we all know that Seam Smith consistantly plays like Charles Dimry when Rice torched him for 4 or 5 tds.
