With constant downfield throwing and limited pass blocking assignments Duante's knees will last 3 games under mike martz. Brian Schottenhiemer is the man for this team! Brian Schottenheimer would make Ronnie Brown a great dumpoff receiver ala leon washington and that will help Duante so much.

downfield throwing is what daunte is best at.

Agreed, but he won't have time to throw downfield with a pass rush in his face every time out.

so it sounds as if this thread is more of an indictment of culpepper.

no coach will be able to make the o-line much better

and no coach will be able to make culpepper into a qb he isnt...

its true you need good pass protection in the martz offense. but you also need pinpoint passes. i know culpepper is accurate with the deep ball and the swing passes, i dont know how good he is with the 20-yard in cuts

No it's an indictment of Martz's offensive system, where QBs scraped themselves off the ground play after play because receivers run patterns that take more time to develop.

Who is "Duante" and what does that guy have to do with the Dolphins?

If you're going to talk about the Dolphins QB, it would be helpful if you learned to spell his name - "Daunte"

That said, Culpepper was a very good downfield thrower with the Vikings and I don't think Martz' system would hurt him. And, as with all QB's, you make downfield throws only when you can adequately protect a QB - that mean's extra protection or keep teams off-balance with successful running, good play action fakes, and good short passing attacks. Also, Culpepper's knees should be much better - He has another 7-8 months to continue to rehab and that should help.

But, Martz is not going to be a prime candidate anyway - so this discussion is likely mute.

Go get the best coach available and stop worrying about how well he fits with a team full of players coming off a 6-10 season. This team should be in FULL rebuildling mode, head coach included. If Wayne thinks he's a head coach away from the Super Bowl he's fooling himself.

:yeahthat:

first off we can't base our decision on Culpepper, he isn't the future. secondly, Culpepper would fit Martz system very well. and more importantly Ronnie would excel under Martz. he has great hands and good moves with the ball in his hands and Martz loves throwing to his RB and as for him not running alot yes that is true but look at his averages, his RBs average over 4 ypc
