C'mon guys the officiating was horrible. Reddick was getting held non-stop. They were reaching like crazy then at the other end they would call fouls which probably were fouls but were happening at the other end of the court everytime Duke brought the ball up. The reach on paulus at the end was such a bad call. Baby Shaq traveled like crazy down low
You know, I agree. Duke was getting calls all night. How about the one where the LSU player leapt out of bounds and threw the ball back in play, yet the ref called it out already when it was clearly in. How about when Redick lowered his shoulder into the middle of the LSU player's chest in the backcourt and they called a block. How about all the times Cro-Magnon had his elbows up and they didn't call it. I was watching the game with a Duke-bound friend and her father (and I had Duke winning the whol shabang), and everyone agreed that the officiating was definitely in favor of Duke.
In this game, if you want to complain about officiating, I've got a few suggestions for Duke:
1) Shoot higher than 27.7%.
2) Instead of taking contested jumpers and lay-ups when covered by the entire LSU defense collapsing around you in the paint, move the ball around and dish it out. They had horrible ball movement all night long, and it resulted in worse execution.
3) Box out on free throws. I've never, ever seen a team (LSU) miss about half of their free throws and still take advantage of being at the line. How many times did they get the offensive rebound on a missed free throw. There were at least two, at the end of the game, when Big Baby kept missing and Cro-Magnon just let him go around him. If Duke wasn't boxing out, nobody was even making a move for the ball.
But yeah, it was definitely the officiating.
