Dungy on Ross' conduct committee? | FinHeaven - Miami Dolphins Forums

Dungy on Ross' conduct committee?

Ummm...yup. He said yesterday. Curtis Martin too...not sure why, but he is as well as Shula, Marino and JT.

I don't understand those choices of Dungy and Martin. Shula, Marino, and JT I understand. But did he choose those other 2 for outside perspective?

I wonder if Bill Parcells got into Ross' ear about Curtis Martin.

I believe if I remember what Ross said correctly at the press conference, yes he said it was for outside perspective.

Well then I guess it makes sense then. But Martin is a choice from left field..... Far left field, wouldn't have even thought about him.

Yeah while Dungy is random, Curtis Martin is just from out of nowhere. Confused.

I seem to recall that Curtis Martin is a smart, high character guy who everyone respects. He might be one of the guys who does the actual hard work on the conduct committee by distilling all of the information.
Where we see a former Jet who we hated carve up our team from 10 years ago, he would not have been randomly selected.

Since Ross is an absentee owner, treating the Dolphins as some glamorous hobby, he needs a "figurehead" proxy owner, a face, to oversee the team. That is why some people are calling for JT or Marino, but it could even be someone like Dungy to run the ship. In essence, a committed person that the camera looks to on game days up in the box.

At this time everything about the team is fractious, Aponte, Ireland, Philbin, and the lockerroom. There's no defined direction with an owner physically not in the building the majority of months out of the year. Ross needs that extra person, or he should sell the team. Because as currently constructed, Ross' philosophy will continue to ruin this franchise, inadvertently. Everyone in the building as it stands has their own agenda.

Bring in Marino for that roll along with Shula Jr. Done Deal!

All of this is bullcheat. Just nut up already and give Pat Riley a billion dollars. It'll be the best investment Ross ever made.

Pat Riley is a real boss, that's why. Shaq came to the Heat because Pat Riley was the only guy in America whose cojones were bigger than Shaq's shoes.

Ross needs a boss in charge of the team. He's too much of a freaking milquetoast for this business.

Hey, go listen to Curtis Martin's HoF speech and that'll answer why he was asked to be on the committee.

Yup, agreed.

The more news I see on Ross handling the problems of the Dolphins throughout the years, the more I realize that this guy really is clueless, and definitely learning on the job, perhaps too much.
From him desperately trusting Parcells and Co. with his entire team, and not seeing the signs early on that things weren't going to work out, constantly sweet-talked by Ireland, to trying to figure out the stadium deal, the spending on the "orange carpet", the poor handling of free agency dealings, head-coach searches gone awry.

We definitely need a leader at the top who knows what they're doing and knows a well-run team when they see one, both for performance-sake, and public image... aka, somebody Not Ireland.

A broad section of football fans and journalists hold Tony Dungy up on a pedestal with the utmost respect. That was a brilliant choice.

Curtis Martin is a Hall of Fame player who is also widely acknowledged for having tremendous character, he lives in South Florida, and he is an 'outside' perspective for the organization. He's also a guy who grew up in poverty and maybe brings more of a 'street' perspective to that group. I actually think he was a good selection.
