Dwayne Bowe to Miami?

What are the chances KC will just tag him? We run into this every year. We covet a guy and then his old team just tags him and he never hits the market.

Vincent Jackson was tagged a couple of times before he shook loose for Tampa.

There is zero chance of D Bowe being a Dolphin. He will be franchised again...of course.

Please remember that D Bowe did not just fly to Miami to talk to our coaches and our GM. No, he was twittered to by two of our players...and not two of our brightest players at that. Is this the Chad Johnson and Vontae Smith show? If they send a message to Calvin Johnson Jr next week what will that mean? (It might mean that Chad Johnson cannot count since this new WR would take his job).

During a contract dispute a player will love everyone and everything not in his town. If the Tallahassee Squid Billies sent D Bowe a message saying they were interested he would reply in kind.

D Bowe "I've always loved North Florida".

Check the catch at the 1:38 mark. And talk to me when Bowe can outrun the entire Jets secondary.

Nice catch but you need your eyes checked if you think it's anywhere near as impressive as Bowe's. And I don't need to wait for him to outrun the Jests secondary. I'll holler at ya today as Bowe runs them over.

I can see waiting until Tannehill is starting before I spend big on a WR. And look to add a 1st round WR rather then spend $10-14 million on a FA WR. You can argue that spending a lot on a WR now would not help as much in the long run.

IMO, our draft screams "rebuilding". I'm OK with waiting if I can see the light at the end of the tunnel.

prob the best post ive seen you make since ive been here....prob because its the first one you're not drooling over matt moore or hating brandon marshall but I do agree that adding top tier talent WRs is the last step you need to take when building a solid NFL team. Some teams, lions, 49ers, raiders, drafted WRs in the first round and the only one that worked out from that group is calvin johnson. IMO outside of the drunk driver in JAX there was no real first round talent WR. The guy from ND is a stretch and it baffels my mind that theyd do that in AZ when they already have a future HOF in fitz and so many other holes.

In my opinion, the chances are low that Dwayne Bowe is franchise tagged again in 2013. The greater chance is that between now and 2013 free agency, he and the team just strike a deal on a new long term contract.

He and the team have a history that is very up and down. He hasn't always gotten along with the coaches, and he probably would like to look at playing for different teams. He's already upset about the franchise tag in 2012 and he has yet to sign it which I believe means he's missed all off season workouts, strength and conditioning, OTAs, Mini Camps, etc. Who knows how long he'll push this, he may also miss some training camp. Teams hate that and if they franchise him again in 2013 then they'll know it will only get worse, not better. Yet, they'll have to pay 20% more in order to ride that ride a second time, because the franchise tag in 2012 guarantees him a $9.5 million salary, and franchise tender rules guarantee you the greater of 120% of your last year's salary or an average of the top paid players at the position. In this case he's currently making the average of the top players, but next year he'll have to get 20% more than that.

It's too much. The Chiefs will end up having paid him $21 million in two years, ending up with no long term contract, he just goes off to a different team (maybe even a division rival like San Diego?) and he'll have been a headache that entire time, holding out both years, missing workouts, missing training camp, because he's unhappy playing two years in a row on a franchise tender.

They're not going to do that. Don't believe anyone that says there is "zero chance" of Bowe ending up a Dolphin.

i don't think bowe gets tagged again either...i do think though that he signs a long term contract in kc

It's more than you're making it out to be. Vontae Davis and Dwayne Bowe share an agent, Todd France. They work out together. They have contact with each other. When Vontae tweeted at OchoCinco, it was in response to something that Bowe had told him in person, and Bowe even went along with it publicly by saying "omw" (until he later deleted the tweet).

Yes, I realize a player that wants out of a bad contract situation (or in this case a no contract situation) will say he loves everyone. That's exactly what we all told ourselves when Chad Johnson was doing radio tours in Miami talking about how it's always been a dream for him to play in Miami. Yet, he never ended up a Miami Dolphin. Oh, wait...

kc will lose matt cassell after this season and sign dwayne bowe long term...

Yeah I think so as well. And I believe I even said that, either in this thread or maybe the one I started at ThePhins. Chances are better than not that he and KC find a way to make it work on a long term deal. However, we're talking a lot closer to 55/45 than 90/10.

However, if they don't get something done, then I don't see them franchising him again. They either get a long term deal done or he hits free agency. If the latter happens, then being a Miami native, with Miami having $60 million in cap space, in desperate need of a wide receiver, again that becomes a very "elephant in the room" situation.

If you're Dwayne Bowe, why do you go along with that? Unless of course Ricky Stanzi ends up playing this year and looks like the next coming of Tom Brady. You've got a team essentially hitting the reset button on the quarterback situation, and who knows which QB they'll be in position to draft next year. Right now at first glance I would say that if they can't get hold of (one way or another) Logan Thomas, Matt Barkley or Tyler Wilson, they're probably screwed.

The way I see it, Bowe is not from Kansas City, I don't know that there's anything holding him there. He's going to want to get paid AND be on a winning team with a good quarterback, all things being equal. San Diego could put up an offer for him and that would probably be very attractive to him. Miami will probably make an offer, and hopefully it won't be a Jeff Ireland lowball special that just insults him so much he starts blasting Miami at every opportunity.

you go along with it cause money talks and bs walks...and the chiefs will back a brinks truck up to the training facility to get it done if need be...and kc is getting more and more tired of matt cassell and how he can't get them over the hump by the day...only thing that keeps them with him now is that contract

by the way i sure would like to get one of those qbs...thomas...barkley...wilson...

damn right i would

If they're getting tired of Matt Cassel and ready to hit the reset button on the QB position, unless as I said Ricky Stanzi suddenly ends up the guy, then that's all the more reason for them to dump Dwayne Bowe the same ay Miami dumped Brandon Marshall. You're going to pay a guy $10 million a year for a few years to basically go through the motions while you figure out the QB position? I don't think so. I wouldn't.
