Eagles interested in Morris

Personally, I wouldn't let him go for anything under a 3rd rounder. Maybe I'm in fantasy land w/some of the other fin fans here but why take a chance on a 4th or fifth rounder when you know what you have already.

Take a look @ last years stats along w/his TD count. Not bad for a guy that was essentialy picked up for special teams. I watched him a few times last years and there were numerous times where he broke tackles behind the LOS for a gain (your oline was terrible last year). The guy just does not give up whether he's a FB or flying down the field for special teams.

Like a few posters here said already, he was one of the few bright spots on your team last year.

(personally, I was so pissed when Buffalo let him go a few years back)
 
There's a good chance Sammy will be starting week1

He's more valuable to us than a late round pick. And I think the chances of a higher pick must be diminished by the fact that there are other backs available cheap (Gordon likely and Hambrick possibly). If you are the eagles and you overpay for Sammy, people around the league start thinking you signed Rick Spielman as your GM and start trying to sell you all kinds of turd5.
 
the Eagles urgency just increased a little. WIP out of Philadelphia is reporting Buckhalter tore a patellar ligament and is having surgery. may be career threatening. no link yet, this came from Philly radio.

also of note, Philly is NOT only looking at Mia to find another RB. they are talking to Texas about Jonathan Wells and are also considering a stop-gap fix of Ty Wheatley.
 
I do not think we can afford to get rid of Morris. I'd be glad to see Gordon go, but with Ricky missing the first 4 games, and Brown just coming to the NFL, we are going to need a back who we can fall back on. Not to mention Morris played with alot of heart and potential last year, and he can play HB, FB, TE, or on the ST. I say he is too valuable to get rid of.
 
Did any of you guys watch Morris run the ball last year???....It sure doesn't sound like it. Morris did an incredible job IMO.....

Not only did he run the football when we needed him to do so, he was the only RB on our roster who was able to stay healthy running behind that POS OL. His numbers were below average, but considering the circumstances, he was the only guy who was able to get it done. He came through in the pinch, and proved he can run regardless of the situation....

Even the so called experts were impressed with Morris. I heard plenty of them say NO RB COULD RUN BEHIND THAT OL. Well, Morris did just that, he ran, and he ran hard. The results weren't earth shattering, but he was better than anyone expected, and if you say otherwise you're FOS......

Morris isn't going ANYWHERE. Saban would be a fool to move him at this stage. Right now, although it's unfortunate, he's the most reliable RB we have!!!.....

Minor

Gordon is Garbage.....

a 3rd for Henry is not overpaying for his talent alone. However, based on the market, it would've been hard to get a 2nd for Henry. Yes, they are cheap but like I said, desperation can change one's mind. It all depends on how much they need someone behind Westbrook. Only they know.

Good, Martin is a great blocking FB for short yardage, better than any other RB on this team, and probably better than some of our crappy linemen.
 
I like Morris.He is very versatile and a good ST player.I would hate to see him traded.
Trade Gordon if anyone.

Eagles RB Buckhalter has season-ending surgery



For the third time in four seasons, and for a second straight year, Philadelphia Eagles tailback Correll Buckhalter has undergone season-ending knee surgery.

The fifth-year veteran, whose career could be ended by his latest injury, underwent surgery Tuesday to repair a torn right patella tendon. He had surgery on the same tendon last year after sustaining an injury in preseason. Early in camp, he re-injured the knee, and an examination Monday by noted Birmingham, Ala.-based orthopedic surgeon Dr. James Andrews revealed the new tear.

Team officials last week conceded to ESPN.com that they were concerned about the latest injury and broadly hinted it could be season-ending. Andrews had recommended earlier that Buckhlalter receive treatment and rehabilitation on the knee for a week and then have it re-examined.

When the Eagles did not offer an update on Buckhalter's status Tuesday, after his visit with Andrews a day earlier, it was viewed as an ominous sign. An announcement of the surgery then came on Wednesday morning.

Losing Buckhalter for the third time in his five-year career leaves the Eagles thin again at tailback, where fourth-year veteran Brian Westbrook is the starter. Rookie Ryan Moats, a third-round draft choice who has performed well in camp and in the preseason, and third-year veteran Reno Mahe, mostly a special teams player, are the backups.

Beyond the depth concerns, the Eagles lack a big, physical tailback. Coaches had hoped that Buckhalter, a tough inside runner with good power, would provide that element. It is possible now that Philadelphia, which has been quietly considering its options given the potential loss of Buckhalter for the year, will sign a veteran free agent.

Veteran Dorsey Levens, who played well for the Eagles last year in a reserve role, could be among the players considered.

A fourth-round choice in the 2001 draft, Buckhalter rushed for 586 yards as a rookie. But the former Nebraska star tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee the following April during a mini-camp practice and missed the entire 2002 campaign. He returned for the '03 season and gained 542 yards, then suffered the patella tendon injury last summer.

Despite his recurring knee injuries, the club re-signed Buckhalter this spring when he was an unrestricted free agent, giving him a one-year, $550,000 contract. In 30 games, including 11 starts, Buckhalter has carried 255 times for 1,128 yards and 10 touchdowns. He also has 23 receptions for 262 yards and one touchdown.

We probably can't get anything for Gordon, and what makes Morris so much a better RB than minor other than the fact he can play alittle FB. Morris had 523 yards last year, Larry Johnson had more yards in 5 less starts. Minor plays good ST, is a decent 3rd down back. Lamar Gordon got 35 attempts last year, I haven't seen enough of him yet to call him a total bust.

Ask Saban, did he even let Minor carry the ball the last game? I did see him in special teams otherwise I didn't see him in the backfield w/ both the 1st and 2nd team at all.

Morris has 12 carries and Minor has 11 this preseason.

That's a great point. But look at the OL Johnson runs behind compared to ours. You're talking about the NFL's #1 ranked OL in KC, compared to the NFL's #32 ranked OL in Miami....

To me if Morris gets more than 100 carries this year I would be surprised. If we were a sure fire playoff team, then Morris stays. But we most likely won't resign this guy and if Minor or Gordon get those 100 carries I only see a minor dropoff. I don't trade Morris for a 6th or 7th, but if some team offers a 5th or better it would be nice to replace the Manny Wright pick, we need all the picks we can get while we are rebuilding a bit.
