Easy to gain weight...what about strength and power?

You all have got to be kidding me Ricky has been running with a football for probably close to 20 years 1 year off and hes some wilting flower?!?! WTF is wrong with you!!(doubters) I know plenty of bodybuilders/powerlifters that have taken several years off and the time it takes them to get back to what they used to be is measured in months not years and Ricky has only had ONE year off and he has been core-training the entire time..and he sure the F*CK didnt forget how to run with a F*CKING football.

Not the point Zeke. The point being will he be able to regain the form that helped him win the rushing title in 2002? I'm sure he can gain back his weight, but will he be explosive when carrying the ball. He can run hard but will he put the shoulder down and get that extra yard? Does the year off help his already suspect carrying skills? Will he protect the ball better now? How about his blocking, will a year away from coaching make that better, the same, or worse?

The point I've been making is the 2002 Ricky is a thing of the past and no amount of training or yoga is bringing back that player. I'd be fine with the Ricky-hugging if the majority of said huggers realised that 2002 Ricky is gone. He wasn't even the best back in the NFL that year. Priest Holmes had a commanding lead in yards before he was hurt and missed the last four games of the season. The great player people are salavating over had one, count'em, one league dominating season. With no one opening holes for him he was lucky to get the yards he did in 2003 and on a gigantic amount of carries to boot.

As someone who competed in a few powerlifting competitions, and trained with someone who won a few competitions, gaining muscle weight takes time. I was always told that it is easier to turn muscle into fat, than just gain muscle on a slimmer frame. Yoga may help his flexibility, but the most important thing for a RB IMO, is leg strength, he maybe more flexible but unless he's gotta get to around 220 to be effective IMO. Another good question that is relevant to this subject, not discussing RW, but a RB in general, is whether it is easier for a back to gain or lose weight. I'm not picking an arguement with a Bills fan, but Willis McGahee would be a better back if he dropped about 10 LB's IMO, because while he is strong and a tough runner, I don't believe he has the breakaway speed because of the muscle, very similar to Ricky in New Orleans, and would be one of the best backs in the league if he did this.

Dude .. you're FIFTEEN YEARS OLD. I don't mean that in a way as to reduce the validity of what you say. But, a 15 year old compared to a 27 year old football player who held the record for most yards rushing in the HISTORY of the NCAA (that's 4 YEARS of knocking the snot out of BIG defenders) and built a reputation for giving defenders concussions. Then came to the NFL and rushed for over 1800 yards in one season as well as having the most carries over a 2 year period of anyone to ever play the game, all that against some of the biggest, fastest, strongest, hardest hitting MEN on Earth  .

This guy is a real rarity. The natural gifts he has don't just disappear in a year.
haha, whoa u guys took that seriously:fire: , i just found it funny he said statistics that are very comparable to me haha;) , im not saying im better than anyone...
i think ricky wont have his full strength back for this season, but hopefully he can make up for that and work on more agility with maybe less weight, idk is it possible that he will gain ALL of his strength back between now and october because ive never had to try that and im not a weight trainer:confused:

Strength usually comes back quicker than size. I see no problems.
Yeah his strength will comeback much faster than him gaining muscle size again. If he gains back most of the weight it will be 75% fat anyways. Muscle takes time to build because of the breaking down it goes into. And for all this Yoga increasing strength BS, the Truth is in The Iron you pump, not sitting Indian style on a carpet like Aladdin.

im not going to rehash for some insight into the muscle mass regaining here.. http://www.finheaven.com/boardvb2/showthread.php?t=81397 as for what he has gained/lost as far as football skills/explosion I really have no clue but I think if someone did one thing for 20 years and stopped for 1 year im pretty sure they wouldnt have "lost" it.

the origonal question posed was can he get back to the same physical specimen he was a year ago... the short answer is YES..but as to if his head will get back there.. that is another question entirely.

And you do?!?!? Don't make me laugh. I would expect your experience with sports involves your ***, a TV, and a bowl of Cheetos.
