ELIte Manning

Have you watched these guys play? Victor Cruz CARRIED the offense the last 2 weeks of the reg season, if he doesn't take a 7 yd pass and go NINETY NINE yds against us the Giants are probably not in the playoffs. Cruz, Nicks, Manningham, Bradshaw- not many teams have weapons like these guys. They may have the best WRs in the league, last week it was Nicks taking a short pass and making multiple GB defenders miss for a 66 yd TD and grabbing a Hail Mary, this week the hero was Cruz- every week it changes b/c these guys are so damn good. Eli did not have a very good game yesterday.

They are good players..but did you ever think that Eli makes them that much better? The point I am making is that the Giants have not spent a ton of high draft picks of skill players...Eli had no time yesterday and still found ways to make plays..I gave Sanchez credit for doing the same at times the last few years..Eli was gutty yesterday.

Oh, what was that? Eli Manning isn't an elite NFL QB?

Yeah, ok lol. Say whatever you want about Eli not being an elite level QB if you want but it's just going to sound more and more ridiculous at this point. You can talk about the two special teams blunders the 49ers had yesterday if you want, but take a look at what Eli did yesterday on third downs. His offensive line bailed on him late in the game. Dude was constantly picking himself up off the dirt. Jersey was so dirty by the fourth quarter he looked like he played for the Browns. Eli carried that team yesterday....in bad weather....on the road. Set the record for most road playoff wins by a QB. Manning threw the ball almost 60 times lol.

Kid was BALLIN yesterday. Give this dude his credit because that's an average team in New Yor but Eli elevates them to a Super Bowl spot.

Aaron Rodgers
Tom Brady
Drew Bress/Eli Manning

Let's hear it, nyjunk...tell us all about how Eli is an average QB again.

Spot on.

Im looking for those threads that one guys kept starting wanting me to rank where Henne would be in QBs and I would list Eli near the top and everyone kept bashing me talking about Eli wasnt even top 10. GET REAL!!!!!

The most impressive thing about Eli yesterday was the fact he NEVER turned the ball over. Consider these facts along with that one and get an idea of just how remarkable that is.....

1) He was facing one of the best defenses you could ever play
2) The field and weather was a mess
3) He took a TON of hits
4) The 9ers hit hard as hell
5) He had no run game to speak of in order to keep the D off balance. Basically that great D of the 9ers knew what was coming. Eli threw about 60 passes in that game.
6) The screen game was completely taken away as well.

When you consider those 6 facts and realize the man never threw an INT or lost a fumble, thats a ****ing man right there. That was as impressive a performance by a QB I have ever seen. Balls out. Man's game *******.

Elite in the current NFL would be guys like Eli, Rodgers, Brees- Eli is not on that level. THIS year he was anotch below, through the past 5-6 years he's been at least 2 notches below.

Why are Rodgers and Brees considered elite and Eli isn't?

These guys don't throw the ball to themselves

Eli was gutty but not great and of course a QB will help his WRs look better if he is playing well but these WRs are excellent. Victor Cruz has been spectacular this year, Dbs cannot cover him.

Why are Rodgers and Brees considered elite and Eli isn't?

They consistently have their teams at the top of their conference, Eli has not. Eli has had 2 really good runs(one w/ a 10-6 team, one w/ a 9-7 team) but hasn't even won a playoff game in his other 6 seasons. He's been shut out in the playoffs(at HOME), he missed the last 2 postseasons- how is he all of a sudden elite? b/c he led his 9-7 team on a nice 3 game run where his D has played lights out?

Eli has made Victor Cruz a household name.

Victor Cruz would be looking for work if he was with that other New York team.

OK it is really simple to be honest and to use a zen "they are never on the field at the same time" approach is foolish, if that argument held true than Defense would win out every time, anytime right?

No, it wouldn't because the quality of play would be directly affected by the offense and what it does on the field, Bress is a great QB no doubt about it and as much as I despise Brady there is no argument that he isn't in the top 5 all time in terms of all time great QB's.

Bress and Brady have started nearly the same amount of games 153 to 159. Their stats are not hugely off base from one another but Tom is clearly the victor.

Passing Yards: 40,742 to 39,979 edge Bress
Completion Percentage: 65.9% to 63.8% edge Brees
Passing TD's: 300 to 281 edge Brady
Yards per attempt: 7.5 to 7.4 edge Brady
Interceptions: 146 to 115 edge Brady
Comeback Wins: 25 to 19 edge Brady
Passer Rating: 96.4 to 94.0 edge Brady
Game winning drives: 34 to 29 edge Brady

and the biggest category of them all Super Bowl Wins 3 to 1 Brady.

Brees is great but Brady has been just that much better.

I do agree that Brady has enjoyed a better defense in terms of ppg 18.3ppg since 2006 compared to 21.8ppg for Bress. Which leads into another of my favorite arguments, Balance wins multiple Super Bowls not offense or defense. You can be great in one area and win it once, maybe twice but you need balance to be a perennial playoff contender because if you get into a shootout like Green Bay did this season with a hot young team or you have a bad game like Brady did in the AFC Championship the rest of the TEAM (notice there is no I) will balance it out.

So head to head edge Brady, overall team balance Brady - it isn't a wonder the man will be playing for his fourth ring in so many years, the Franchise just gets what it takes to run a ball club.

I agree that the two are close...but I think Brees is the better QB right now. Over the past 5 years Brees has lead the league in the following categories:

Completions 3x's
Attempts 2x's
Completion % 3x's
Yards 2x's
TD's 3x's
TD% 2x's
YPG 3x's

During this same timeframe Brady has led the league in the following catagories:

Completion % 1x
Passing yards 1x
TD's 2x's
TD% 2x's
YPG 1x

All the while Brees has played in 8 playoff games with a 101 QBR while Brady has played in 10 games with an 84 QBR.

Ever heard of Ray Lewis, Ed Reed, Ngata, and T Sizzle? Those guys are decent. Not too many QBs have great games vs. those dudes.

The last time Brees played the Ravens (2010) he put up a 91 QBR.

I'm not trying to say that Brady should have put up great numbers against that defense, but if he's as great as a lot of people say he is then he should have been able to put up decent numbers. Hell, in his last 10 playoff games he's failed to reach even an 80 QBR 6 times. His overall playoff QBR is now 84. In today's NFL that's just not good.

49ers did a pretty good job of covering him in the 4th quarter..Eli is Elite...Face it..I cant believe your rooting for the Pats over your home town giants...

Hmm then why didn't he have any success w/ him in 2010?

Cruz CARRIED Eli the last 2 regular season games.

After he had torched SF for 10 recs and 142 yds. Eli is not elite, he's good. he did nothing all 2nd half, his D and STs won that game.

No turnovers. And he torched the 49ers on a 3rd and long.
