You can't tell me that a dumb decision isn't a dumb decision simply because it didn't come back to bite us.

Dumb decisions are dumb decisions no matter how fortunate we are in the end. Might work out this time but dumb decisions most often don't play out in your favor. I'd recommend Philbin not make a habit of making dumb decisions.

You have an opportunity to put more points on the board and you take conservative routes, that's how the fist pumping idiot got canned.

Kickers are 1/8 ALL TIME kicking 50+ yards into the open end of Heinz Field. You elect to do it with a struggling kicker in a damn snowstorm? On 4th and 2 with 22 seconds in the half?

I would've gone for it. Don't make it? Pittsburgh has the ball at the 34. Make it? Get 8-10 more yds then kick the FG. I don't think it was an awful call, it just wasn't the right one.

There was 0% chance that Sturgis could have made that kick. Taking a knee would have been better than kicking it.

BTW, props to Philbin.

The way we handled that last possession to ice the game was smart. Force them to score 7 with no timeouts and 1:10 to play. Much better coaching there, IMO.
