Eric Steinbach signs one year deal with fins

Not bad for depth if healthy. The guy missed only one game until he sat out all of last year. Could be a good pick up.

I think this just continues to show that John Jerry has been a major disappointment so far in the eyes of the new coaching staff. The Dolphins did their conditioning drills today so I wouldn't even be shocked to find out that Jerry failed the test. Steinbach missed last season with a back injury, but even though he is 32 years old he could be a nice addition. If he can prove he is healthy he will start at RG in my opinion.

I assume the coaching staff has finally given up on Jerry and were not thrilled with the idea of having Hicks as the 16 game starter at RG. Though I still wouldn't write Murtha or Garner off when it comes to that starting spot.

Would you put him at RG or would you put him at LG and move Incognito over to RG? I think I'd rather put Incognito at RG.

Do you all not understand...if healthy this is one of the BEST guards in football? Thats if..man..is this not the most solid line since the marino era?

I have to say interesting as well.. He used to be very good and at 32, he can play 2-3 more years...

What ever happened to Jake Scott?

just another sign that the coaching staff and front office have absolutely no confidence in john jerry, i heard he showed up to OTA's overweight and slow, I'm sure we would of liked to sign scott be he would of cost too much, steinbach is solid just not sure if he can stay healthy.

Solid. But yeah, dude has to be ready to play again and not aggravate that back. Back pain is a bitch.

I was wondering the same thing about Scott. I would imagine Ireland and Philbin didn't trust Scott's health, but Steinbach is coming off an injury too, so its a good question.

I assume they went with the guy they thought was more healthy. However if Steinbach was their choice, probably means Scott is pretty messed up health wise. If Eric's back is not a problem, and that is a MAJOR IF, he is easily going to be the starting RG.

now that's interesting...i may be mistaken but didn't he miss all of last season??? did he retire???

I just read a few reports that said steinbachs back is 100% healthy, if thats the case look for him to start at RG adn the RT position will be a battle between Murtha/Martin/Hicks, I think our OL is solid.

yep, missed all of 2011 with back surgery but reports say he is 100% healthy, but before that he started 125 games and only missed 3 in 8 seasons so he is relatively healthy and reliable.
