ESPN: Amari Cooper Likely to be Released

DVP doesn’t get separation, we need to move on him from regardless.

I’m ok with Cooper I guess but he’s so hot and cold as a WR. Plus he gets injured.

I’d rather go after Davante Adams honestly.

I’d pass on Godwin too but I’m probably a minority on that.

At his price he’s worth it as a 3rd option if you get Amari. Parker on jump balls vs a 3rd corner is just a nightmare for opposing defenses.

Show me the contract it would take to land him and I will tell you yay or nay.

He has been overpaid for so long will he be willing to play for what he actually deserves?

Or will the crazy FA market overpay him again?

I do not want him for the kind of money he has been getting that is for sure.

This is one thing that has always confused me. Why would a receiver that excels in separation and YAC NOT be a great fit everywhere? If I had to pick 2 WR traits I wanted most, regardless of system, right after hands would be separation (routes) and YAC (athleticism).

I see it mentioned often...just curious as to why that would be.
Hi, Purbolee.

We're playing fantasy football now adding Cooper, Barkley & Patterson. Would be nice though, sort out the OL and would be a very exciting season

It’s not FF when you have $70M in cape space before even dumping some of your dead weight and almost half the league is scrambling to get under the cap.

Saints and Packers made some quick renegotiations but they still have massive debt. I’ll be intrigued by what they do this week and if they call looking for help.

Giants, Cowboys, Vikings, Falcons and Niners also have a lot of work to do before FA starts.

Also, if Cooper is released he can sign with a new team right away and count towards the compensation pick formula.

It was unlikely we were going to factor for 2023 comp picks anyway but a signing like this would open the door, should we not retain Ogbah and Gesicki.

Amari Cooper is a better NFL player than both of our top FAs, I believe.

If he is released, he wont count towards the compensation formula. He would be a street free agent and they don't count.

Do you think Miami could make a play for Amari Cooper? He is only 27 and from Miami but seems to be on a slight decline in his career. He could be a nice #2 for a year or so while drafting a WR early. Waddle, Cooper, Metchie (for ex.), Parker, Bowden, Hollins could be a solid receiving corps.

Dallas would likely cut him because of his salary, not because he is no longer a productive player. In fact his 8 td’s last season matched his high for number of td’s in a season.

The Cowboys are set at WR even if they do cut Cooper and his $22 million dollars cap hit next season doesn’t make much sense for a team like the Cowboys which are presently $21 million dollars over the cap.

If he is cut, he will likely be looking to sign a contract in the $16- 20 million a year range. That will likely be the range the top free agent WR’s will sign for this off season. The Dolphins just have to decide if he is the best free agent WR on the market if they decide signing one of the top WR’s is a priority in free agency.
I prefer Adams, Godwin, or Robinson over Cooper but it’s not my decision.

If Cooper is released, Miami should 100 per cent target him. Dude is a silky smooth route runner capable of getting great separation. He's still young and is underrated, in my opinion. His cap hit is quite high, which I think is the only reason Dallas is considering releasing him.

Hopefully Cooper has interest in signing with Miami. He's a solid route runner and can still make some plays. Now only if New York releases Barkley.
Barkley and Gesicki reunited... sweet

Reggie McKenzie was the GM of the Raiders when they traded Cooper to the Cowboys. Since he now works for the Dolphins, I’m sure they will go to him to see why he was willing to basically give up on Cooper when he played for the Raiders.

For the money I'd rather have Godwin but I don't hate this idea.

Hes gonna cost a fortune to aquire tho.
