ESPN: How the Dolphins should handle Tannehill

Has striving for success and being the best become wrong?, ARE YOU KIDDING ME LOWER EXPECTATIONS, That is the sure way to lose, A guy has it or he does not, if he does not you get another guy. but let him have his shot

OK, for every QB that made it after getting beaten up, there are more that did not make it. P Manning also won only one game in his first season in the NFL but he played 4 years in college and did not have the hype that there is today.

I'm not saying that starting Tannehill right away will make him a bust, but it is foolish not to believe that it will increase the chances.

We happen to have a better QB in Matt Moore that can start then the Redskins and Colts have, let's use him.

Troy Aikman won some big games in college. As did P Manning playing in the SEC. Tannehill has yet to win a big game. We had the worse OL last season in protecting the QB. As yet, we have no proof it has improved.

It normally takes more then a year to beat a player down. We hope that we are going to improve but at this point we have no idea.

Once again, people are different, teams are different, fans bases are different and the times are different.

What is the benefit of taking a greater chance of ruining Tannehill when we have a young QB who played well last season in Matt Moore?

If Tannehill wins the job by being so good then I'd have no problem with him playing the first week. What scares me is the FO reacting to the fan base and forcing him to start before he is ready.

What a bunch of arrogant, self-aggrandizing jerks! ESPN can put it where the sun don't shine!

Tanny starts from day one IMO.
You would have to be insane otherwise.

Big difference between Miami and Carolina/Cincatti is the offensive cast already on the team. Carolina had Stewart and Williams, plus Steve Smith. Cincinatti paired the #1 WR in the draft with Dalton, while having Cedric Benson (1k yards) and Jerome Simpson. Both teams had solid offensive lines too. Offensively, those teams were ahead of Miami in 2011 in both yards per game and points per game.

I don't think Miami is rebuilding, more like. reloading. The defense is mainly done, save a few pieces, and Philbin needs to how so everyone plays in the new schemes.. During that year. Tannehill can work with the mid to lower round draft picks and build up rapport. Then he can step out as the starter in 2013 with another draft class on his side and Miami will be in excellent conditional as the division realigns itself with the Jets on their downward slide and Tom Brady in twilight.

If you're going to play that game, shouldn't we compare our 2011 team vs. the 2010 Panther and Bengal teams? The 2010 Panthers had a historically bad offense (12.2ppg) and the 2010 Bengals scored 20.1ppg versus our 20.6ppg from last year. Incidentally, the 2011 Bengal team scored a whopping 15 points more than us over the course of the season, and I'm not even sure if that counts D and ST TD's, which I recall having none of and I know Cincy had. Bush looked every bit as good as Williams, Stewart, or Benson last year, and I won't even broach the topic of addition by subtraction by getting rid of Tony S. I agree that our OL was pretty atrocious last year, but 80% of that can be tacked on The Columbo Saga at RT and Long's nagging injury; our OL should be significantly improved this season. All this being said, I do think we should sit Tannehill for a while, unless he blows Moore and Gerrard away in practice.

The cream rises to the top. Either you are good enough or your not. The best way to learn is to actually be on the field taking your lumps. I also do not have a problem with him sitting for maybe half the season, but the sooner you get him on the field the quicker the learning curve is.

Gentlemen, I apologize again for a worthless post, but with this new posting rule requiring 10 posts to view links and images, I need to get my post count up to 10. I did attempt to PM the moderators, but I got no reply.

As soon as I saw the article ws written by James Walker, I did not bother. He is a typical Dolphin hater. He is a hack. I can only imagine how he got his job and how he keeps it.

Philbin should send ESPN instructions on how to run their TV show and media merry-go-round

The last thing I've say is that Ryan Tannehill needs to WIN the starting QB job and not just have it given to him. If he cannot beat out Matt Moore then he should not be playing.

Two things would have to be true for me to start him at QB.

1st) He needs to be better then Matt Moore

2nd) Our OL needs to be vastly improved so he does not get beat up.

If these two are met, then that will give him a chance for success.
