ESPN Insiders take on Ramsey Situation

“Andrew shared in his habitually hushed voice, "It's special. It means a lot. I've got a big family – six siblings, and I've got a lot of cousins, a lot of relatives that come and show their support and love for me, and then I have friends. One week, I had like 20 friends – 10 friends and their wives – all come."

AVG is talking about how much he loves being close to his home town now.

Then in day one of the legal tampering period he signed a contract with the Vikings after his wife posted on social media that they had purchased a house in Minny weeks before the legal tampering period.

Now, I’m not saying that the Dolphins shouldn’t have started working with him earlier (maybe they did?), but it’s pretty clear that the Vikes illegally tampered with AVG.
There plenty of quotes and vids I’ve seen of his wife saying we wanna be in Miami

There were statements made pro miami and pro moving up north to be closer to home and family. It’s typical during contract negotiation/FA time. That’s why we will never truly know.

I wish AVG well.

I think he will be traded at some point. GM's do not publicly state that they have agreed to move on when they do not know there is a great possibility of doing so. There is no rush, as he can be traded anytime. I think and hope Grier is taking his time to get the best deal possible or waiting for after June 1. He may even wait through training camp and see if an injury elsewhere gets the deal done. Ramsey is a good player and someone else will go for him. Another desperate GM for sure...there are many of them out there.
Just like June 1st is significant for Ramsey and the Dolphins, there will be many other veterans on the move--including to unemployment. Some championship-aspiring team with a strong willed head coach and veteran DB room will be willing to take their chances. Trickier aspect is whether Ramsey will play without an extension. That's really what could mess this all up. Greed is not good.

Exactly this, plus we are prioritizing the guys we trade for (Hill,Chubb,Ramsey etc) by giving them long term extensions over the home grown guys we draft. I dont think that sets a good precedent for the team IMO.
If I were GM I would be very hesitant to trade for any player who demanded an extension up front. Good players should be rewarded. Greedy FKs should be left dangling for Cleveland and other go nowhere teams. (Yes I do realize the Fins have been that team far too often in recent memory).

Most of Grier's contracts are foolish. He puts the team in bad positions and then hands out a contract like this to double down on the mistake. Tua's contract is a perfect example as well.
Well in Grier's defense, the team has a lot of cap flexibility coming online the next couple years--which could be used to re-sign our own young players. A good GM knows the priorities will change over time, so leaves room for the occasional wholesale strategy shift. Let's hope what we have seen the last couple years is indicative of more to come.

I’ll take Van Gink all day

Two pick-sixes on the year, six PBUs, over 75 tackles on the year, over 11 sacks.

Top 5 DPOY voting

And a cheap ass contract to boot.

Really dumb evaluation all the way around
Many of us agreed at the time. AVG was the one to keep--if we could have for same money the Vikes gave him.

Yeah, but buying a house there before tampering started tells me they had made up their mind and knew they were going to accept an illegal offer from the vikes.
Fins could have filed a grievance but not so soon after facing its own tampering prosecution and the Flores fiasco.

Poupairt claims no offer was made by the dolphins at all, they allowed him to walk from multiple sources, don’t blame them for anything after that stupidity

Wrong their statements came after the fact that no offer was made by the dolphins

Can’t protect Groer from such stupidity sorry

If we would if make him an offer he deserved they would of stayed absolutely

I’m not protecting Grier at all, rather, I’m saying we will never be absolutely sure because positioning was happening by both sides (totally normal) during the process. I’m a big AVG fan and think he exemplifies the exact traits the Dolphins need. Humble, hard working and relentless. Zach Sieler is the current example of this. I want more guys like that, instead of diva/narcissists like Hill. Hopefully we have learned our lesson about chasing shiny toys.

Ps. You mis-spelled wrong, it’s spelled RONG 🤣

Oh, I’m not saying Grier didn’t F that up. He did. He should have jumped on AVG the year prior. Everyone saw how good he was… except Grier.

All I’m saying is, if Minny hadn’t of tampered then there was a better chance that Grier didn’t mess it up as bad and AVG stayed. Plus, he and his family like it in Minny better and it’s obvious.

Is there a GM that pulls the extend/restructure a player one year then want to cut the player the next year move more than Grier? Just in the past few years, there's been Jones, Howard, Hill, Ramsey, Chubb, Tua. Who am I missing?

When did Grier talk about out cutting Hill, Chubb, or Tua? And did Jones get extended or restructured here? I don’t think he did.
