ESPN: "Why Miami is best for Peyton Manning"

Thank god you don't run nothing but a keyboard on the internetz.

First you should care about his neck injury when bringing in a athlete.

MIA doesn't have to give anyone a shot, even a 'legend' that is 35 years old.

As for 'learn from the best' nonsense. How did Painter look this past year with multiple years learning from the best?:ponder:

If Manning is 100% you pay him. But you don't go allocating reps and resources to a guy who isn't going to be 100% and is entering his late 30's. You don't do it if you want to be relevant in the next 4 years.

Painter just flat out sucked. Tannehill, weeden, and Osweiler have better skill sets and more upside.

I do care about his neck, but the man is cleared to play, and even if he isnt 100% healthy, a 75% Manning is a huge upgrade over M twice.

By bringing in Manning it shows that our team wants to win a superbowl now, just like the Vikes did a few years back with Brett Favre and they almost made it to the super bowl.

You Honestly think us fans are thinking "super bowl bound" with Matt Moore at QB or Matt Flynn? the answer is no and neither is anyone else, because its not realistic. the odds are too low and the odds are better with Manning, even if he isnt 100% healthy

Besides the injury, give me a reason why not to sign a 35 year old legend? especially if we draft a QB early, it really wouldnt hurt much. From a business point of view, it would sell tickets like crazy. Manning gives us the best chance to win now while a young QB who sits a couple years gives us the best chance to win for the future

Kind of like how the Packers went from Favre to Rodgers without really missing a beat.

What is your suggestion on our QB situation?

that defence ranking could be misleading the other way too.....they were horrible with that 0 and 7 start and then were great the 2nd half.......sure, we played great teams early on and the 2nd half we played a bunch of bad teams.

Ozzy rules!!

So Painter sucked while sitting behind Manning and learning for multiple seasons? And yet Tannehill a guy who had limited exposure at the D1 lvl is somehow better with more upside? That is laughable. The guy crumbled against top tier teams, and even some mediocre teams like KST and TEX. I watched most of Tannehill starts while he was at TAM. The guy looks the part until he faces teams like OK, OKST and MIZZOU. Then he falls apart. You people crack me up. Somehow college players like Tannehill have more upside with limited exposure at the position than a guy who has been sitting behind the 'great' Manning for multiple seasons.:lol2:

And your suggestion that Tannehill could be a Rogers is laughable to be kind about it.

And when looking at a athlete entering his late 30s with 4 neck surgeries, you don't look past it. Not if you as a GM or Coach want to be around in the future. Even as you put it, a 75% Manning. What is Manning if he isn't 100%? Pennington? No thanks. Noodle arms aren't needed and hinder the team against top tier Defenses, I point you to BALT and PITT

As for what my opinion is on the QB situation. You defer to Philbin. If he wants Flynn, you get him. Its really that simple. A new HC with ties to a QB he has coached, should be defered to. After all its his job on the line.

Kind of like how the Packers went from Favre to Rodgers without really missing a beat. This line here is the funniest **** I've read here yet. Rodgers to any of the college QB's you named are ****ing funny. If it wasn't such a weak QB class, the above mentioned QB's wouldn't be coming from your keyboard nor the draftniks.

with moore as the starter last year we might have won 9 games.with him starting this year without fat tony he could go 10-6.with payton here as the starter we can win 12 or 13 games.why not bring him to south beach.

When did Favre have a problem with nerve damage in his throwing arm?

This is the aspect most of you who want to get Peyton Manning just for his name value are overlooking. The guy has significant nerve damage in his neck that has effected the strength of his arm. He still has not thrown the football for the Indianapolis Colts to show them that he is progressing. This is a player who has had FOUR surgeries on his neck already, and is possibly looking at a FIFTH surgery. Now, why would he be looking at a 5th surgery if he was progressing well? He wouldn't be, and the reason this is an option is because it is very likely that he still has weakness and pain in his throwing arm.

Basically, you are wanting to bank the future of this franchise on a player who would qualify easily for disability if he applied for it.

Another thing you are overlooking is that if Peyton Manning could play and was healthy, he wouldn't be available to begin with. The sole reason he will be available is because he is not healthy. He is damaged goods.

Nerve injuries are not something you can just rehab away. You can rehab muscle strains. You can rehab rotator cuff tears and labral tears. You can rehab ACL injuries. You cannot rehab away nerve damage.

If you cannot visualize Dan Marino late in the 1999 season when he played with a pinched nerve that effected his throwing arm, then visualize Robert Edwards who attempted a come back from having significant nerve damage in his lower extremty that happened when he hurt his knee at the Pro Bowl during his rookie season. He wasn't even close to being the same player.

you went off on a tangent on a guy (Tannehill) who I used just as an example  I wouldnt even care if we dont draft a QB this year, maybe next years draft. As long as Manning is there to groom him

 I love how you put words in my mouth, I never said Tannehill is the next Aaron Rodgers, thats whats really funny.

But you do know that Mike Sherman was the head coach at AM right? since you think just because a coach knows another QB (ie your attempt at an argument the relationship Flynn has with Philbin can be said the same for Sherman and Tannehill).....just saying

Right now Peyton isnt fully healthy, but the doctors do say he should recover, the question is when. I think its a better gamble that Manning will recover then rolling the dice with Flynn (see AJ Feeley, Kevin Kolb). We have two options at finding a franchise QB. either we draft or sign a free agent, With manning, we do both. With Flynn, more than likely he will be the starter and we MIGHT draft a late rounder, or sign another UDFA like Devlin who more than likely wont produce.

I feel like Im taking crazy pills trying to convience some Dolphin fans why we should sign PEYTON MANNING, never thought I'd see that day :rolleyes2:

You brought up Tannehill. Whether it was a example or not, you brought him up. When you brought him up, you also used the analogy of Farve to Rodgers. Those are things you wrote. Now I'm the one putting words in your mouth? Please. Defend your opinion.\

And yes I know Sherman was HC at TAM. I also know he lost his job, because he put his faith in said QB. A QB who won 4 games in the BIG 12 this year. Difference between my thoughts on Philbin and Sherman is, one is a HC the other is OC. The OC who recently LOST his job.

As for 'when' Manning will be healthy. Do you go into this season with him being less than 100%? How long and how much do you invest in Manning until he does if ever, reaches 100%?

Those crazy pills are only needed because fans such as yourself, would mortgage everything for a legend who might end up being a shell of his formerself. Manning wouldn't be available if he was healthy. Period. How you can take that chance, IDK. :ponder:

You know what they say when you assume...

If nothing else, getting Peyton makes Ross look like he is committed to winning. Whether it works out or not, the attempt would restore some faith in the management.

Buyer Beware?

you can say that about UNPROVEN QB's but Peyton Manning is a legend and Miami HAS to give him shot, no doubt, in order to make this franchise relevant again. Who cares about the injury, its freaking Peyton Manning. Im sure the Fins would also draft a young QB to learn from Manning and worst case scenario if Manning doesnt work out, we still have Matt Moore and said rookie QB (ex: Tannehill, Weeden, Osweiler) to learn from the best.

Only two career starts is a buyer beware (Matt Flynn)

Painter just flat out sucked. Tannehill, weeden, and Osweiler have better skill sets and more upside.

I do care about his neck, but the man is cleared to play, and even if he isnt 100% healthy, a 75% Manning is a huge upgrade over M twice.

By bringing in Manning it shows that our team wants to win a superbowl now, just like the Vikes did a few years back with Brett Favre and they almost made it to the super bowl.

What is your suggestion on our QB situation?

Connect the dots. You, the poster, first brought up Tannehill. I didn't. While in your second post you talk about him again, then continue to opine that if we follow your thinking. That somehow the Favre to Rodgers analogy fit in the situation your were speaking of.

So assume away. Just make sure to follow the conversation.

Ireland gets manning and tannehill, our future is set. manning risk is nothing but money. his neck is his neck. he chooses to play.

No to be honest one of my Fav Non Bill Players.

Would it worry me he is in MIA, yeah it would a bit, but literally I would post this on any team Message Board looking at him....

Multiple Neck Issues Buyer Beware.

It's a risk, but all of the QBs that are available are a risk.
