It should already be obvious to anyone that Philbin isn't the answer, and Tannehill likely isn't either, so it's not that interesting to discuss.

But what do we make of Hickey? Is he worth salvaging? There hasn't been enough time to evaluate his moves, but what do you think so far?

I don't know if I would entrust the whole team to him while ditching Philbin, but I might consider pairing him with Harbaugh if Harbaugh is amenable to it.

Personally, I am tired of half measures, but people might be able to make a case for Hickey. Of course, Harbaugh isn't a forgone conclusion either.

If Harbaugh isn't coming here, I think they should just make a clean break and dump them all and bring in a complete new staff, as unfair as that may be to Hickey

hes decent,

his draft picks of James,Landry seem to be good.

seems like Delmas isn't really good tho

Moreno was a good signing but he was known to be injury prone and people were surprised he played all the games last year.

It's not his fault that Pouncey got hurt and our interior OL is getting crushed. It's not his fault that Jeff Ireland spent big money on 2 bad LBs AND those 2 bad LBs got hurt. It's not his fault Misi is hurt and Tripp is hurt, and Trusnick has to play.

It is his fault that he gutted the special teams unit by cutting Thiggy and Don Jones.

Thiggy sucks

i do miss Don Jones tho

This is the bizarre situation we've put ourselves in. Philbin wasn't the answer. That was clear after last year. Yet overlapping with Hickey just gives us an unclear view of what Hickey is capable of. Personally, I like Hickey. I think he's in a bad situation and has to purge the team of Ireland's stink. I'd like to hold on to him and bring in a competent HC, but at this point why would we have any faith in anything Ross does?

I was yelling from the rooftops that Philbin should have been ditched along with Ireland last year. Ross botched yet another hiring/firing decision like he did with Sparano.

I guess we should pray that Marino can get in his ear this time to help him avoid another such mistake.

WRONG.

hicky doesnt cut guys. his job is researching talent and running the draft and bringing IN players.

joe philbin has FULL CONTROL over who plays and who sits or GETS CUT. and like any other job, when the foreman says this guy is worthless, he is gone, that worker gets sent to H/R and they paper work him out the door.

PHILBIN cut jones and thiggy, NOT hickey.

That's a fair and good point.

Hickey has done a much better job than Ireland ever did. He wasn't given much to work with...

That being said...after the Tampa Bay game, it was obvious that we had serious issues at the guard position. They have not been addressed and I have seen no attempt to do so.

Philbin is gone at the end of the season if not sooner.

Hickey should be retained at least during the coaching search, but coaching candidates should be given the option of whether they want to work with him or if they'd rather the team would buy Hickey out and bring in a GM they're more comfortable with.
