Every Tannehill dropback from week 2

i'm not sure if its the same one but there was a throwing lane on the ones i saw til the lb came up and jumped straight in the air and filled it...anyways i agree got to find a lane i'm just not sure what he could have done on that in breaking wallace one

i saw another off 3 step drop i think a dlineman got it...if i recall correctly

the screen was set up for massive yardage had a convoy in front...lawson just made a great play imo

Ahhh.. Just saw it to open up the 4th quarter zone read play-action. Hard to put that one on the QB. But his low delivery point doesn't help on this play. Still that's 4 batted passes. This far into the tape...

I have watched the entire compilation about five times now. I really believe RT would complete more passes if he can increase his play speed a little bit. He is releasing the ball late on some of these routes. The CB are catching up especially as the receiver runs out of space.

yeah there were a couple games last year batted balls came up but not many...something to watch for going forward just like everything else i guess

where do you see the ball coming out late???

Wholeheartedly disagree. I'm 10:00 into the 4th quarter thus far. And his play speed and timing have really impressed me.

He did not step into the throw on the deep ball to Wallace in the 1st Q which probably explains why it was so bad, though in fairness Lawson was closing on him at the release. The miss to Gibson, I have no words, that was a missed layup. He has to make that throw.

so do you see the same qb with the same issues you saw from him in college???i see some things that are pretty similar pocket presence deep ball accuracy although jeff fuller was his deep ball wr in college and i assumed with a real deep threat wr that his placement there would get better given he had nothing in college...which may turn out inaccurate and has to date i'd say...i went over all his game tape as a prospect prior to him being drafted and i can say without question his decision making has gotten better and the ball comes out more timely and in sync with routes...and he's learning to climb the pocket...i dont see a maxed out qb at all...i still think there's meat on the bone

I think there is some meat on the bone. He's never gonna be the guy you put it all on his shoulders. But he can win in this league with a defense and running game. Pocket presence/movement + low delivery point which results in batted passes and hinders deep ball accuracy. Those are the biggest carry overs. Ball placement was better this game but still a question mark. I thought decision making was good. Timing, and play speed is much better. That's probably the area he has improved the most. Unfortunately, I don't think the deep ball accuracy and batted passes will ever go away as a result of his delivery point. I'm currently at 8:31 in the 4th quarter.

so in essence you are saying he's mark sanchez with the jets before they put it all on his shoulders...

Not at all. I'm saying he's Alex Smith with the 49ers (2011+2012) and Chiefs (2013, not this year) with more upside. Also the Scouting Report of Bills game is done.

i would like to see him run sometimes...he just seems content to stay back there til a play dies...but so does joe flacco and the ravens won a damn super bowl with him and he's not a 20th best qb in football either...

the instincts on some things arent' what you want them to be...but he's also not a finished product...at least to me he's not

I would say Joe Flacco is a fair parallel comparison. The thing is that team looks totally different without Ray Lewis, I'm gonna say I'm pretty sure they have a losing record in games he was out injured/retired. It could be coincidence or maybe people are underestimating what it means to have a leader like that in the locker room. Thats what kills me over the Moreno injury, he was looking like the type that could put the team on his back.

i was gonna say sanchez wishes he was tanny talented...i would say alex smith with more upside is absolutely better than a top 20 qb...hell alex smith is better than that now...although he's learning what it's like to play behind a ragged oline this year

I just don't see this with any regularity. IMO, his only issue is that he waits too long to run when nobody is open. Some QBs are too quick to scramble and some are too slow too scramble. It is difficult to find the balance. IMO, the best answer is for guys to get open.

that and his accuracy no? You think he has great accuracy? because you forgot to mention that one.

We can't analyze his pocket presence from this tape because there was no pocket.

Nearly every snap I saw our O-line getting mauled. On the few times he actually had time, Tanny had to throw the ball into tight coverage.

We lost to a very good Bills defense. They whooped us in the trenches and their DBs did a good job covering our receivers.

Without Knowshon we were one dimensional. The Bills could afford to keep their secondary focused on our receivers or blitz. (which we did a horrible job of picking up) 4 wide and no one in the backfield against an aggressive defense is trouble. I'd like to see Tanny audible when (or if) he sees unaccounted for pass rushers.

I think the best time to analyze what kind of qb you really have is when he's under pressure.. Not when the pocket is beautiful and he has all the time in the world..Thats the best case scenario that doesn't always happen. And anyone can look like montana with a perfect pocket all the time. Its what you do when it is collapsing and defenders are coming in..He escaped a few but he seemed oblivious to some of the blitzes.

I agree that you want to see how a guy performs under pressure, but overall I think he did ok. He didn't kill us. A bad QB will make bad decisions and throw picks in similar situations. Tanny only threw that one, garbage time, pick at the end of the game. By the same token, we cant compare Tanny to other QBs that haven't played a game with similar protection.

The other thing we all seem to forget is that without our Special Teams giving up that kickoff return TD and letting Sammy Watkins run free in the secondary, we are down 12-10 with 4 minutes to go in the 4th quarter, with momentum.

Although Tanny didn't win us that game, he certainly didn't lose it.

Ssshhhhh! I think we've reached the limit on saying the 'S' word before you-know-who appears and derails this thread entirely. Like some sort of by proxy Beetlejuice.
