Every Tannehill dropback from week 2

i was gonna say sanchez wishes he was tanny talented...i would say alex smith with more upside is absolutely better than a top 20 qb...hell alex smith is better than that now...although he's learning what it's like to play behind a ragged oline this year

Yeah Alex is a top 15-18 QB right now. I think that's where Tannehill ends up. I just see him as #20 at this moment. But it's week 2. Still has plenty of time to climb the list this year. I have a hard time seeing him reach the top 10. I'm rooting for him too though.

This is good stuff. I appreciate you analysis…but more importantly I appreciate the fact that you are still rooting for the guy regardless of where you stand. There are people on here who WANT to see Tannehill fail just so they can say "I told you so".

this fan base would be giddy for a top 12 qb even...although there would still be plenty of people complaining if that's what he was long term...i obviously have set the bar high...but i just go with what i see and i did absolutely assume natural progression here given how green he was as a qb coming in...

there's things like subtle lateral steps in the pocket that tannehill does not do...it's not a part of his game right now...nor has it been for 3 years now...whereas guys like rodgers and luck that is a part of their game...i'd like to see some development there...but if anyone wants to tell me the decision making as to where the balls going relative to the coverages being played and timing on throws as far as when the ball comes out relative to routes being run is not good enough take a hike

My thoughts exactly. if only he had Marino's quick step forward.

I was a little weary of the inexperience. And that Oklahoma game in 2011 was really hard to watch. I love the tools. I see him taking another step in his development. I think he's almost where he will be his whole career though. I think he'll be in that mid tier class. But I hope I'm wrong. Hell, I hope he's better than Aaron Rodgers one day.

wow, when we're driving in the 3rd down 9-0 its 1st and 10 at the 15 and we throw a TE screen to clay. That is a drive killer, that was one of our best drives of the game and we get 3 points out of it... Tannehill could have lead rishard for a TD, and he could have hit gibson in stride for an easy TD, but come on Lazor those TE screens have got to stop. That drive has got to be 7. Negative plays kill momentum and that lead ryan to throw 2 terrible passes which should have been routine

I disagree, dont stop the screens, just have better blocking.

Speed means screens, blocking for them and set up means talent and coaching...we be lacking

the screen to lamar was beautiful. i would give wallace some screens from the slot like landry gets instead of a screen from wallace outside, and im always in favor of screens to RBs, NOT Tight ends. Clay is NOT healthy; but i respect his effort to play through, no doubt

How did he miss Gibson so bad?

By the way, why did Joe take the penalty on Gibson's catch (in which he did not look like he was touched) instead of the yards gained?

Confused.

I didn't understand that one either. The pass looked complete. Once we took the penalty I assumed it was incomplete. I expected quite a bit of conversation about it here. I still have the tape but haven't looked at it.

Anyway, IMO exercises like this are mostly silly. For a game or two I like to look at every play among newcomers or guys I'm not familiar with. Once it's a known quantity it's more of an excuse making process. Remember when Spielman bragged that he went back and watched every play from A.J. Feeley? I wanted to scream. Spielman was adjusting and rationalizing instead of recognizing the bottom line. If Tannehill were a special player we wouldn't be scrutinizing every play from his 3rd year as NFL starter.

There were drops the first two weeks. More than an acceptable number and not fair to Tannehill. He's not terrible. That's the problem. We'll probably get stuck with a contract extension for a guy who stays and teases in this range. I hope Hickey is wise and forceful enough not to fall for it, to at least bring in competition.

I'll stick with what I posted prior to the season, that we need Tannehill to sprint decisively in one direction or another. Instead, he's managing the worst possible course, loitering in the middle and inspiring threads like this.

Maybe against non-divisional foes he'll break out. That can happen after so many divisional games dating to late last season.

With all due respect....your post assumes Ryan Tannehill Is done developing, I don't believe he is.

Anymore than Drew Brees was after his 2nd and even after his 3rd year.

You can call it excuses all you want....but it is an undeniable fact that we have a new system this year.... with a new O-line......and a New QB guru trying to fix what needs fixing.

How about a little patience?

I don't think he is completely done developing. But I would temper my expectations if you think he will develop as much as Drew Brees. He's the most accurate QB in the league and throws for 5,000 yards every year. Plus Bill Lazor is no Sean Payton either.
