I absolutely agree we need a big tall TE to be a size mismatch for red zone and 3rd downs. And who also has enough ability to be a seam threat. Last year I saw two of those guys, Eifert and Ertz. This year it's more of a poor man's bucket unfortunately. Austin Sefarian-Jenkins is a decent choice with good size and adjusts to the catch well. But, he's not really a blocker and plays just a smidge slower than ideal. IMHO, he's a notch below the Eifert/Ertz category, and I couldn't see Ireland spending a 1st or 2nd on him. He'll be gone by our pick in round 3. Everyone loves the speed guy Ebron, but to me he's a Charles Clay type--fast, athletic, but very incomplete. Neither is a size mismatch in the red zone or clutch 3rd down outlet. Both can be seam threats though.

Jace Amaro is a solid guy, but he's not fast enough. At best I see him becoming a poor man's Dennis Pitta. The rest of the TE's simply aren't there. Well, the red-flag drug guy out of Oregon, Colt Lyerla, certainly has the athletic skills despite being a couple inches short, but he can't get his head screwed on straight and surely will be off of our draft board completely. If he makes a miraculous recovery it will not be as a Dolphin.

So, I think we missed our window of opportunity with TE. Our choices now appear to be A) pay through the nose for mediocrity in free agency (Graham will re-sign with the Saints), B) draft yet another inadequate TE, or C) stick with what we have.

I'd love to see another Eifert, but the only one that comes close in my eyes is ASJ, and he's not quite there.

I'd rather stick with Sims and Egnew then draft another TE this year. There are other holes to fill. Especially since there are no sure fire stud TE's this year. I have a feeling Egnew will make a bigger impact next season, and I have been one of his biggest haters (hence the sarcastic name) but I have been impressed with the limited action he seen this year.

He has been blocking very well, he hasn't dropped a pass yet and has made a few tough grabs. Hr was raw coming out of college. Seemed to have toughened up a bit and is being brought along slowly. I can see him having a much bigger role next season and having a breakout year. 40-45 catches for 450-500 or so yards with 4 TDs (yea I went high on TDs cuz he should be our redzone guy cuz of his size and athletic ability)

I have faith in our coaching and player development.

Position doesn't really matter. We need an influx of great players, even if they are replacing guys who are considered our top rated players. I don't care about salary cap either. Our lack of special players is the regulator. If all we do is plug in a couple of moderately talented guys at our weakest positions, then other areas naturally regress and overall we aren't any better off than we are now.

Jeff Ireland's inability to identify great talent is stagnating this franchise. And when we have truly great players, there won't be any argument, any need for stats or dozens of threads. Nobody was debating Paul Warfield's level.

This is very true. No elite players drafted. It's devastating to this franchise but to be fair, this problem has existed for years. I mean seriously, can you name an elite player drafted since the Jimmy Johnson drafts? Jake Long was on his way to being special, but once he started getting injured he fell completely off the map. Plus he was drafted absent a true contender at QB.

Jeff Ireland / Bill Parcells had a chance to have a special 2010 draft by just sticking to where they were and drafting Earl Thomas (round 1) / Jimmy Graham (round 3). Bad part about those misses were, these were actual needs I mean it wasn't even about upgrading decent players . . . it was about replacing Gibril Wilson and getting a raw beastly receiving TE next to Fasano. If we can't even hit on the needs, how can we hit expect to replace the positions we are decent at?

Nobody is trying to replace everybody, but he's absolutely right. There is nobody on this team that is irreplaceable. Even Cam Wake who is on the wrong side of 30. No exceptional talent on this team that has been drafted . . . meaning if you get the opportunity to draft a "special talent" you do it. Not sure how the Dion Jordan thing will work out, but I do think it's the "right idea". You need to identify "special players" and get them on the team.

I'm on board with moving Dion Jordan to OLB and starting over Wheeler(with his cap hit, keep him as backup for 2014 then cut him) and drafting a Lb'er in the 4th or 5th and hoping he develops. TE should be the other pick in the first 3 rounds, preferably someone over 6'4" for a legit redzone target....or go Wideout and get maybe Brandon Coleman as a big tall long-armed redzone wideout. Resign Clemons/Grimes/Starks or Solia(whichever will sign cheaper)....draft a RB somewhere, or bring in like 3 undrafted free agents and keep your top 3 backs....let them duke it out in open competition. Bring back Keller on a vet minimum one-year deal. Bring back McKinnie and Jerry on smaller deals....move Pouncey to G and sign Alex Mack. Cut Matt Moore, draft a QB later to develop as your #3(Keith Price/Aaron Murray/Logan Thomas).

If McKinnie is on this team next year, we failed at addressing the oline. He's been great for us this season but the book is out on him. Send a speed rusher, even if its a DB and just beat him on the outside. He's a stopgap for 2013, he shouldn't be viewed as any kind of option in 2014. I'd rather see Clabo next year than McKinnie . . . although I'd prefer to get rid of both of them.

Since this is a passing team, we need beasts at receiving position the most. That is a priority.
Once Soliai and Starks are gone, we need DTs in a bad way.

We can't give the QB 3 seconds to throw the ball........but you think the priority is the position that he can't even get a chance to get the ball to???
WR is the absolute last thing we need to look at. LAST!
