explain to me why you would want anyone to coach this team over Bill cowher?

Very simple. I don't want a retread. i don't care what people think...I want a fresh body that has never had an HC job. I'll even take a college guy. I am just tired of the "good ol' boys" network that the NFL has become where coaches are rotated between crappy teams every few years!

Because the college guy worked out great for us last time...as has the fresh faced never had a HC job before...and as for Fisher...Im glad he chose STL...he did nothing much in the NFL outside of 1 SB trip...

We have had 2 Offensive coordinators that people said would bring a fresh offensive mind to our team...one had a 1 win season, and both of them seem to be too robotic to be leaders in the locker-room...

at least with cam we still seemed to have on field leadership...with failbin, well he gets rid of on the field leaders...

Do. Not. Want. Is it the limit of the average fan's imagination to try and resell yesterday's greatness? Cowher has been out of coaching for seven-years. He is irrelevant to today's game. When he was coaching the Steelers, he was one of the best, if not they best coach in the NFL consistently and most of his coaching was done without anything approaching a franchise quarterback, people forget that. He wasn't Belichick with Brady, or Walsh with Montana or Young, he wasn't even Parcells with Phil Simms. This guy was going to conference championship games consistently with Kordell Stewart, Neil O'Donnell and Mike Tomczak as his quarterbacks. That's impressive, it's also no longer relevant. If it needs to be said again, let me say it, retread coaches who have won Super Bowls elsewhere do not win them with new teams. Mike Shanahan is on the verge of getting axed for essentially stealing money from the Redskins, he couldn't recapture his Denver magic because the organization he went to is not the same, he's not the same, the game is not the same.

I give Cowher all the credit in the world for what he did throughout his career, I think some people underestimate his greatness, but he'd be just another PR stunt for this team, another star****er hire that could very well turn out like Parcells or Shanahan. Owners often forget that coaching success is often a perfect storm of factors that coincide at one magical moment. Cowher, even if he possessed the passion and the competence at this point of his career, is he bringing a Bruce Arians and Dick LeBeau with him? Is he bringing a Kevin Colbert and that front office with him? Cowher always enjoyed superior coaching staffs and arguably one of the 2 or 3 best front offices in the NFL consistently. They would lose player after player to free agency and just maintain their level of excellence. That isn't happening here. This ownership doesn't have the credibility. If you couldn't pull a Jeff Fisher, whose only option was the talentless Rams, then you are not as high up the desirability scale as some of us may wish to believe.

This organization isn't what it used to be. The perception of this organization in the popular consciousness isn't what it used to be. There was the whiff of greatness about this team even long after it had actually won anything, but that's gone now. We appear more like the Saints, Falcons or Bucs of the 70s, 80s and 90s, just dysfunctional losers with imbecilic ownership. If this team ever rises from its self-induced coma, it will be because we get lucky hiring a dynamic GM and equally brilliant coach, that's the only way it happens and we're seeing how hard that is to do.

I think Cowher is a dynamic coach who did a great job with the Steelers. This post is what I'm worried about. The NFL has evolved so much since he last coached; can he adapt?

Because he doesnt have any respect for the city of Miami (dont blame him) and he doesnt want to blemish his good standing in history by becoming the HC for the crappiest franchise in the league who will always get no respect from anyone ever no matter how good we get.

Im tellin ya'll again, moving out of Miami would be the best thing to really start fresh. But that aint happenin. The league needs a george bush to pick on.

and keep miami in the northeast division where weather always comes into play at least 3-4 games of the schedule.

!. He is old school....he's done.
2. He does not want to coach anymore.
3. The Redskins do this year after year - they go out and get a guy who was good in some past era and cannot get creative and try something new.
4. Philbin looks like a fail - I want him gone - but at least he was something different then the same old washed up, yesteryear news!
5. Get over you Cowher crush - we are not the Steelers and this is not 1996.

I love how I ask people to at least provide me with numbers for a coach that they would like, even just a name, and all i get is the same old BS...

Because Cowher isn't coming here no matter what, if he ever comes back to coaching.

Explain to me at this point why he would ever want to come back to coaching. I don't see a situation why a Cowher or Gruden would leave their jobs to return to the coaching grind.

What is more telling is when a coach chooses the ****ing rams over the dolphins. Coaches are CHOOSING OTHER TEAMS WHEN AN OWNER WOULD PAY THEM OUT THE ASS. What does that say?

There is something to be said when Joe Philbin is named head coach when there were plenty of experienced head coaches on the sidelines who avoided miami like the plague. Same for free agents over the past decade or so.

Which coaches avoided Miami that are coaching somewhere else now?

The Chin is all set with coaching. He is making good money sitting in the chair.

I wouldnt take him anyway as he has been away from the game so long that the game may have passed him by. PLUS if he can't bring Dick Along with him to coach the defense than it really makes my mind up that he is not the guy for the job. 1 thing remains in Pitt and when he goes so goes the pride and ID of that football team. Cowher had little to do with that defense.

I would be onboard withe getting rid of Philban based on the ending of the season but to be honest that might not be the right move at this time. I think Ross is all set with the experimental thing. He is going to want a proven guy or at least a guy that has head coaching experience. With that said the only guys that would fit the bill and be an upgrade is Lovie (not so much a fan) / Bill Obrian (best available - also taken) / Gruden (don't want him for the same reason no Cwher - been away from coaching to long although he has stayed connected to the game which is the reason he is on the list).

Right now the best move is to get rid of the OC / DC and find replacements. I would start with the younger Shannahan and Chud since he was firied this morning.

this is what this post is for...I already did lovie

Some people have said Lovie smith so Lets look at Lovie Smith
He has been a head coach for the last 9 years
His teams have gone to the playoffs 3 times
Those 3 playoff appearences were because they won the division (no wild card)
His teams have won 3 playoff games (no superbowl win)
His total record is 81-63 56%

and no thank you to bill obrien...as a UCF fan i say no to any coach who has access to big ten recruiting and loses to UCF...you should win on the talent difference alone...
