Face it folks, we need a REAL QB.

A.J looks the same even when he has time.He just makes horrible reads.
Feeley = Deer in headlights
I can only recall 2 plays in the last 2 games where he's had more than 2 seconds to sit in the pocket.

Not having the opportunity to be there or watch the game on television leaves me at a huge disadvantage.. however I do over look the bad passing when AJ does get protection.. because I know how difficult it is trying to remain focused (as the play is developing) when your fearing a major hit at anytime without warning..
Can you honestly say you have the patience and ability to stand in the pocket not knowing if some linebacker or cornerback is about to hit you squarely between your shoulder blades with his helmet??

Isn't that every QB job to do?This is why you admire QB like Marino who stand in pocket strong and are not afraid of getting hit.

Feeley is frustrating to watch. I've seen all the games he played for Philly and he NEVER looked looked this. He had poise and fire...this preseason he showed some fire. Where has that gone? It's as if he's forgotten how to play all of the sudden. He's playing scared and making dumb mistakes. I know the o-line has a lot to do with it but still...that 2nd pick was a horrible decision, should have just kept the ball and ran with it. What I saw in Philly was a promising young quarterback...what I see now is totally different.

feeling has two problems...1) bad online and 2) inexperience...YEA LETS WRITE HIM OFF...THAT MAKES COMPLETE SENSE (SIGHS)...WE ARENT GOING AAAAAAAAANYWHERE THIS YEAR...LETS WRITE OFF OUR 2ND ROUND PICK...SCREW IT...

WHY NOT LET THIS GUY PLAY THE WHOLE YEAR BEFORE WE SAY HES GARBAGE...SOUND LIKE A BAD IDEA???

You have bad memory my friend.

I think you've nailed it. Maybe it is the offensive system??

I watch those 4 starts in Philly and he wasn't "IMPRESSIVE" like some of you say he was.He did an adequate job as third string QB.It was nothing out this world.

Guys, i have never seen an o-line that was this bad! On every drop back, whether 3, 5, or 7, as soon as he plants his back foot he has pressure. It is like if there were nobody in front of the defender. I have never seen anything quite like this!

Fiedler would be in the same predicament. As bad as last year's line was, this one is even worse.

I keep hearing they have to "gel" and to give them "time". Feeley will get killed by the time this line plays well. I really don't think is the players, although they are average, it has to be the coach. Wise is just a bad coach who is living off his reputation in Dallas. :shakeno:

Well I never said he was "impressive", I just said he showed poise and fire and seemed promising. Especially since he had less to work with receiver wise in Philly. Those qualities I metioned are no longer evident in Feeley's play right now. That's why it is so frustrating. I can't explain it...maybe Lebatard is right...maybe there IS a hex on this team. It's just strange that we have new guys on offense who've played good/great for other teams but have played horribly for us. I'm out of ideas :confused2

It's obvious that many of you are still suffering from some delusional expectation that Miami can somehow pull this season out. It is time to face facts: THIS TEAM WILL NOT HAVE A WINNING SEASON THIS YEAR!!! It simply doesn't matter who we put in or take out of our starting rotation at any position. There is no more talent sitting on the bench at any position that is going to "turn things around" for us, and there is NO chance that coaching will have any chance at righting this ship, either. Once you come to grips with this (as our defense has), you can be a lot more reasonable about some things. There is a certain amount of freedom that comes with being dead last in the NFL.

AJ should stay in for the rest of the season. He can then be fully evaluated and a real decision made about his abilities at year's end. Same goes for all our rookies that we want to evaluate. Pope should get playing time along with any other position we want to truly evaluate as a future starting change. This would give the coaches an actual opportunity to really evaluate future players...something they have been unable to effectively do in the past until starting the players. Take some risks on offense...get a little reckless. Change up defensive schemes and test them out. If you can't succeed this year, at least set up the framework for a better prepared team the next.

As fans, fighting over who should be quarterback is pretty foolish at this point. The real concern here is not who is throwing the ball, it is how many seasons will it take to undo the damage caused by Dave and Rick these last 4 years?

Back to the original premise - I agree.

We need a real QB. We have aspired in recent seasons under this regime to have an adequate QB. We need to aspire to having a great QB.

Agreed we need a lot of other things too to make said QB successful. But we need to say "never more" to mediocre QB's whether as starter or backup. That probably means saying "never more" to the current HC and his philosophy too.

Because when the pressure is on they won't make as many stupid errors as we see and have grown used to seeing. A good QB recognizes disguised blitzes and has the mental capacity to know which receiver is open. He doesn't run past the line of scrimmage and toss an INT.
He throws it away when nobody is open.
He doesn't throw an INT in EVERY SINGLE ****ING GAME.
.
You mean like Plummer throwing a ball left handed near his endzone for an INT/TD or like Favre throwing off of his back foot under pessure in the playoffs? Or the countless Favre over the head or behind the back throws were he was lucky enough to have a receiver there? Or in Favres second year as a starter when people thought he maybe color blind because he threw a pick in almost every game?

You wanna see good QBs do stupid things watch the AFC QBs from any super bowl from the 13 year NFC win streak.

This kid comes in, has to learn a new system with a 1st time OC and new players and a O-line that has never played together before, on top of that the coach shuffles the line around, your starting running back has been here 3 weeks, and you are now playing a NFLE RB and a rookie FB. Then the state you just moved to gets nailed with three hurricanes in as many weeks, and the last game you played in the remaining effects of. Then you are expected to out perform a popular (with some players) 4 year starter and have no endorsment from your head coach as to how secure your job is.

I've watched all three games and when he's had more than 1.5 seconds to throw the ball he's made some very good throws and lead this offense to TDs. Just like the RBs have made yardage when the O-line has made holes. I have seen the QB and RB hit at the same time while handing the ball off in the backfield, i've seen a DE get to AJ before he even completed dropping back to pass.
I agree he should read the defense if he sees a blitz and make an adjustment, but who's gonna block? We all new he was a young guy that needed to learn more, but under these circumstances ANY QB would struggle.

Ben's offensive line was struggling last night. I thought it was a GREAT comparison. The steeler's offensive line isn't the greatest either. But when he was under pressure, Ben performed well.
That is my point....our current QB doesn't perform well under pressure...when things break down. That is why it always seems like we can never come from behind and win a game.
Feeley folds and has these mental lapses which causes him to throw the ball into some crazy spots! This last game was a perfect example. He even had time to throw at times...yet he made boneheaded throws.
