Yes, there’s still a chance the Dolphins sign Nick Perry — who played for Patrick Graham, Miami’s defensive coordinator, in 2018 — in the coming days, weeks and months.

But based on Graham’s comments Thursday, ahead of the team’s rookie minicamp, if the Dolphins don’t add anyone else, it’s no big deal.

“I’m a coach,” Graham said. “I feel like we got enough. I feel confident in our coaches to coach those guys to get things done, how we want to execute it, and I feel confident in our players understanding the concepts, understanding what we’re trying to get done and getting 11 guys on the same page. So I always feel there’s enough.”

Graham also echoed an argument used by the last coaching staff: That sack totals aren’t the best way to judge a defense. Rather, an effective pass rush affects the quarterback by clogging his throwing lanes and making him uncomfortable.

Graham added: “Some of our best pass-rush years I’ve coached, we didn’t have that many sacks. But I know the quarterback didn’t feel comfortable back there when we played.”

I really am excited about this multiple front defense. But, I see our lack of pass rushers as a real Achilles heel at the moment. You can't fill every hole immediately, and we have a lot of picks next year, but this is a glaring hole. I will be very pleasantly surprised if they generate sacks given this talent.

If I were going to tank, not replacing pass rushers is one easy way to ensure the defense doesn't do well. Just a thought.

I would keep an eye on Solomon Thomas if the 49ers make him available again, but I think Miami will find a way to at least equal last year's pass rush.

There's nothing better for the defense than a sack(not counting INT's).......pressure is fine but you can pressure a QB and he can still complete a pass. Even if you hit the QB he can still complete a pass or at least get rid of it and not lose yards. But when you sack the QB the play it's over.
I understand what the coach is saying of course but bring the QB down is huge.

The 2 guys we signed from that defunct football league, one was a sack leader... You don't think maybe he might be anything special? At least more effective than Charles Harris?

I wouldn't think he's "special". After all, the reality is, he was playing against non NFL caliber guys in that league. I guess the same thing was said about Wake when he first arrived though.

I'll settle for competent, at this point.

He wasn't very good as an end...which is partially (Nick Bosa is the other oart) why they put feelers out there.

At the same time, I'm all for getting the #3 pick in the 2017 draft for a 3rd, or 4th rounder.

And not replacing the oline is another easy way to ensure the offense is stagnant.

And throwing a young QB into the fire behind that oline more so.

I truly think you hit nail on the head.

I really think this team is being setup for failure to secure good draft position or the front office is still making very questionable moves that will hinder the team moving forward.
