This is what fast twitch refers to. I have been seeing the phrase used all over this site in absurd applications.
WTH does muscle fiber type have to do with play recognition?? or game speed?? or any of the other bogus nonsensical applications being used.
Cam Wake is a prototypical example of a guy with fast twitch dominant muscle fibers. HOF RB James Brown would be a great example of slow twitch dominant. The guy seemed to grow stronger as the game went on.
Neither is necessarily better than the other. You will probably see more slow twitch dominant guys as power RB's who can pound the rock all game long, and your fast twitch guys will be most of the speed rushers in the league.
Dolphins need both types.
I would gues a guy like Randy Starks who seems to be strong all game long is more slow twitch dominant. Roberto Wallace being 6'4" 225lbs. and having a 1.47 10 yd dash would be classic quick twitch.
